With the ever-expanding number of figures we now have available in the 25th Anniversary style articulation, I was wondering which figures or combination of parts would you choose as the ultimate version of any given figure. For example;
Colonel Hawk (from the original G.I. Joe team) - I used the CP Hawk body and just swapped the General Hawk (Modern Era) head; I also did this with the SRO Hawk body, because it was a damn ugly head. The promoted General Hawk is pretty much good as-is. Snake Eyes - there's a lot to choose from for this guy. I prefer the first incarnation (from the initial 25th Joe 5-pack and subsequent wave 5 single carded figure), but I'm also partial to the 25th wave 1 figure with Timber. Although the upcoming Resolute styled version looks to be the penultimate Snake Eyes. Firefly - the ROC TRU exclusive version is the best in my opinion. I'd pick and choose from all the previous versions for his arsenal, though; the CP backpack is my favorite, while I like the Red Star rifle with removable mag. Destro - again, I like the original version the best, although the chromed head looks pretty sharp on top. You get my drift. There are a lot of others to choose from; Storm Shadow, Baroness, Cobra Commander, Duke, Scarlett, Major Bludd, Zartan. I've been in the process of putting stuff into storage for a possible future move, so I don't have a lot of stuff on hand to get any more in depth with my own personal choices, but I'd like to know what other tweaking others have done to their own figures to make their own first line figures. Although if it's anything more than a few minor parts swaps, you get into customizing; which I've got a few of my own, but that's for another thread. Try to keep it simple so anyone can make these changes if they were inclined to do so. |

Out of some of the other choices we have I choose the following:
Stalker - I like the darker camo of the UBP set Wild Bill - the SRO version is my favorite; the colors look nicer (although I had to touch up the paint on his glasses) Ace - same; I made a custom version of the dark green flight suit with a helmet from the VvV Ace before this version was released. I like both way better than ARAH styled original one from the CP. Deep Six - I like the SRO version better; the colors are nicer and it's nice to have the same articulation the other figures get. Although if he needed to go to any extreme depths, he'd get the priginal deep sea diving suit. Cobra Commander - the first Resolute version is my favorite; it's well designed and aesthetically pleasing, while retaining its resemblance to the original CC uniform. Although the black and red 5-pack version is pretty good-looking as well. Baroness - the 25th 5-pack is the best; glasses, hair and all. The new ROC Baroness is alright, but I still think they hit the mark with very first one. Zartan - Modern Era wave 11 (with an original ARAH Swamp Skier); I would, however, use the original Zartan rifle, and I'd even give him one of Storm Shadow's compound bows. Gung-Ho - I'm liking the upcoming Wal-Mart 2-pack version (with Copperhead) the best. And it's about time he put a shirt on. Roadblock - again, the upcoming Wal-Mart Battle Station 2-pack (with Tripwire) looks the best; I believe it's a Resolute restyling of the original Roadblock. More to come as I think of them. |

I was just starting to do this with so many new figs resculpted (new joe and cobra 5 packs)...
FLINT - I wanted to use the 5 pack Torso, with Wave 1 Head and Legs.... The legs would not fit for some reason, I think I had abad mold on WAVE 1 Flint, so I just did a head swap... and he is perfect.. the 5 pack one came with the Backpack, Corrected hands and Gloves.. So much better Destro - Used the pack version with the DVD Pack Head (Has Green eyes and Chrome face) and its PERFECT... Stalker. - UBP body with Wave 3 Head PERFECT.. and the way it should have came out... So far thats all I have... |

Other easy swaps I've made in the past:
For an arctic-ready version of most figures, just swap their heads onto any body of Snow Job, Frost Bite or Arctic Snake Eyes. Also works for Cobra with any Snow Serpents or other arctic-themed troops (like from the Arctic Environment 7-pack). Likewise with divers; most of the bodies are the same - Torpedo, Eels, Cobra Divers, SRO Deep Six, ROC Deep Six, etc. For the ladies, use the Baroness from the MASS Device DVD set. And again, same goes for any pilots you might need. Ace, Wild Bill, or Slip Stream work well. For the ladies, use Pilot Scarlett. Naturally, this won't work for every situation - some modification to the neck may be required, or some have larger bodies (like Roadblock, Bazooka or Copperhead) that would make them look more diminutive. But again, if you've got extras laying around, this is a simple, easy way to make your figures ready for any environment. |

I forgot how many tweaks i did do.Here are some more of mine.
Dusty=UBP stalkers webgear and Desert Major bludd scarf thingy.You would think a desert trooper would have his face covered. Beachhead=Gave the CP beachhead the single carded backpack and put his scraf over his hooded head. Zartan=Gave the 2nd single carded zartan the head from the lastest 5pack.It doesn't flare out as much as the other hoods do. |
