We've have cluster%$&@ after cluster%$&@ so far with this Classified line. Everyone has complained and ranted. So - HOW does Hasbro fix it? Do they even care? IMO - if something can't be done about scalpers, hoarders and secondary market, the hobby will be destroyed. Simply not fun for me any more.
Opinions? How would you actually fix the situation? |

The fix is actually incredibly simple. It's the same fix for all toy lines, retail problems, shortages, whatever.
Hasbro has to produce enough figures to meet demand. That's it. Everything else (captchas, no street dates, better preorder period) would just be a bandaid. The fix in the Cobra Island situation is easy. Make more. Would it be great if they offered them up on Pulse in addition to Target? Sure. But that's probably not going to happen. I could point out that the problem isn't really scalpers in Classified's case (very few of the thousands of these that have been sold are on eBay right now or have been over the last weeks), but I know we all like an easy to identify, obviously evil scapegoat. I think most Cobra Island figures have ended up with collectors. There just weren't nearly enough of them made.

Troop builder options on Pulse like they did with the Hydra or AIM figure.

Make more GI Joe figures than Ghostbusters. I swear I've seen those everywhere!

I would also recommend a higher standard for the accuracy of information distributed to fans, and a greater. degree of communication in general. I don't think fans are entitled to know everything going on with a line, but much of the frustration encountered by fans in this situation is a result of inaccurate and misleading information that came directly from Hasbro. They need to address this. |

Has it been that bad though? Has everyone ranted and complained? Sure the whole NTWK thing was a debacle, and doing ANYTHING involving Target is a practice in stupidity, but other than general impatience are there any big, huge problems? The line seems to be crazy popular and just gaining traction. Things aren't as doom and gloom as we might over-react them to be. Sometimes as action figure collectors we're our own worst enemies.

Sure, there have been a few who, I think, have been a bit overzealous in their displeasure with this whole thing. I am not such a one; and not every criticism is intended to rally the villagers and raze the gloomy, corrupt fortress of Dr Hasbro-stein. I don't think its unreasonable to expect a product to be available when the manufacturer tells its fan-base it will be available.
For me, this is about the line succeeding. I've been waiting for something like this for a very, very long time. I'm confident there will be more of the cobra Island figures available, soon if not immediately. However, there have been quite a few grossly unprofessional missteps, to put it mildly, by both Hasbro and target. I don't necessarily think these occurred intentionally, and certainly not with any malice whatsoever. Still, Hasbro is one of the worlds largest toy companies and, again, I do not think it is unreasonable to hold them to a very high standard in most every regard. I imagine that I am in this line for a great many more figures than a lot of other collectors, even here. There are a lot of fans, however, who won't put up with a lot of this kind of thing for very long. If I'm going to get the figures I want, I need a lot of other people contributing to this line. Therefore, if the line does not seem to be meeting the standards of a great many people who might potentially invest in it, I would want Hasbro to at least respond to those concerns, if not make substantive changes accordingly. |

Cobra Island has been very bad. There isn't really any silver lining to it (except that the figures, by the large, look great). It might get better with some communication from Hasbro or other actions. But right now, post-August 14, it's a bad look for everyone involved.

The only good part of the Cobra Island release is that each character had its own case. Just keep it that way, and make more figures(especially cases of CT's).
