Hi, guys I was one of the fortunate few who were able to score a couple of the new Target Exclusives Joes yesterday. I was only trying to get the Trooper since the date said 7-25. The extremely nice lady went in the back and brought out the case that said Cobra Trooper on the side. But inside were 3 Troopers and 3 Beach Heads! I grabbed the Troopers, and 2 Beach Heads( I left a Beach Head for someone else ). The register said do not sell until 7-25; the girl at the register said: “well that is today.” So I was able to purchase them. I could not believe I was able to get the Trooper and Beach Head! On to the review:
Guys this figure does not disappoint! It has all the classic elements of Beach Head we love, with a little modern updates. I can’t believe we got him so early in the line, but I am thrilled we did! It’s a great figure! Sculpt: First the sculpt is fantastic! You look at him and immediately go oh yeah that’s Beach Head. The stern eyes, the balaclava , the tactical vest, the back pack with removable crossbow( which is not Scarlett’s; his is much smaller ). The great detailing on his shirt, head, pants, pockets, etc. all look very nice. He just encompasses all the great aspects of what made the original Beach Head one of my favorite characters. I got my original 1986 Beach Head from a trade with a kid at school. And he was always in my rotation for field leaders. And so will this 6” Beach Head! Love the way he turned out. Articulation: won’t say a whole lot about the articulation since it is pretty much the same standard we saw with Duke. It provides a great range of motion for some very dynamic posing. My only tiny gripe about the new figures is the way the ball pins in the hips are situated. It can be a little bit of a pain to get him to stand perfectly straight. Seems these pins want to lean a little too much to the right or left. Takes some “playing” to get it right. Again tiny gripe. Paint Apps: Beach Heads colors turned out really well. At first pictures looked like the green was a little light, and it is a shade lighter than the original. But it is actually closer to olive drab than the original. The pants are a dark brown which look really good. A little camo would have been nice though. My only real gripe and it is kind of a big one, he does not have his original 75th Ranger Battalion emblem on his shoulder. That does disappoint me a little. If Duke can have his Airborne wings sculpted on, why could they not have painted his Ranger emblem? It was these little details that made A Real American Hero so great( thank you Ron Rudat! ). Guess I can live without that. But, if I ever see a custom decal, I’ll be adding it. Accessories: Here is where the figure shines, and doesn’t. He comes with attached holsters and ammo pouch which look great on him, but also a removable back pack with removable cross bow( beautiful nod to the original ), a green knife, green pistol, and green rifle. The pack is about perfect, love the details and it is cast in black. Why Hasbro chose to cast the other accessories in green is a bit of a head scratcher. At first I did not like it at all, but after posing him the color is growing on me. The rifle is a bit odd, and does have a Nerf gun feel to it; but it too has grown on me. I think if it was cast in black I would have liked it more. Still the original Beach Head’s gun was cast in grey, so you could make an argument. He holds all the accessories well, and they do look nice. I forgot to mention the removable beret. I actually love it! It fits nicely, and looks great on him. I’ll probably not use it very much, but it was a great addition. Makes me think it’s going to look great when they get around to Flint, Stalker, and Falcon. Overall guys this figure is fantastic despite a couple of little nit picks. When you see it, you are going to want. Grade: 9.5 out 10 Last edited by FlintWO2; 09-23-2022 at 09:47 PM.. |

I was able to score these today. I think your review is spot on--great figure, just a few small issues. I can't seem to get mine to stand with both feet flat on the surface at the same time, so he tends to rock a little bit but I don't think it'll fall down easily. I'll probably eventually paint some camo on his pants and find a different rifle, but overall a really fun figure with some great detail.

Okay, the green gun was just bugging me too much. I upgraded to a Marauders Inc. modular M-4 with scope, spot luma, and front grip it looks close to his weapon, but with an absolutely modern look. I think it takes the figure from a 9.5 to a 9.9!
