I'm a huge Blender advocate, I just wish I had ZBrush for organic modeling.

I was thinking about about what would make a CC hood look good to my eyes, and I thought back to the hood/helmet combo I'd mentioned (as GarterSnake788 pointed out, they did a variation of that in Sigma 6 which I should have remembered because I own that friggin' figure!) and after a few thumbnails I decided to model the sketches and quickly came up with this:
A slim helmet close to the head, covering the skull, with a cloth mask over the face. It's a rough mesh, with no details beyond the panel lines and some procedural textures, but thoughts? |

I don't get the hate for the hooded look. It's not like he's a sweet innocent gummy bear leader. He's a cold, calculating, ruthless leader of a terrorist organization determined to rule the world. The look is evil even without the association. And it fits perfectly, as it's literally a cobra hood. It's genius really. And besides, it's not remotely similar to the Klan. It's closer to an executioner or pac-man ghost than a KKK hood. I really hope than some oversensitive group or Florida mom doesn't prevent them from doing the hooded look in this new overreaching post-pandemic pc world.

Blender is a-maze-ing, I've been a user for a decade, or at least the better part of a decade, and it's been a thrill ride to watch it grow in popularity and get mainstream support (Epic currently has a partnership and is working to get Blender better integrated into the Unreal pipeline, which would be an absolute boon for both game developers and artists needing the tools that kind of support engenders) not to mention all the cool developments along the way. I have no use for EEVEE, but plenty do and I'm all for it, and the newfound focus on sculpting (oh my gosh, we have a cloth brush that does realtime cloth sims to add in wrinkles!!!) has been absolutely awesome. I'm a hard surface modeler by trade so I don't have many uses for those tools, but egads is it cool to see people moving over to the program.

I'm not Hasbro or Marvel, so I can't state absolutely that the hood wasn't originally influenced by own own hooded terrorists in order to make him more immediately read as the bad guy. But throw in a snake-themed axe? It reads as executioner instead of Klan, and nobody should have any problems whatsoever. Last edited by Allamaraine; 07-19-2020 at 04:04 PM.. |

The chrome masked battle helmet is my favorite look for CC.

im probably one of the few or many where I prefer the silver face plate mask helmet. The blue hood has always been dull looking anyway

Plus in the old cartoon, Cobra Commander wore the silver face mask and helmet more than the stupid hood anyway
