Released as part of Wave 13 in October 2023, Classified fans were excited another OG13 member could be crossed off their wish lists when Grunt was revealed during YoJoe June last year. Classified Grunt is definitely ARAH-inspired, but also adds a whole lot of modern updates to his overall look and also plays into his role as a Joe team expert strategist a lot more so than seen in the past. The Joe team at Hasbro decided to give him a Steel Brigade helmet as an alternate head, which is a really nice feature since it allows you to display him in a variety of ways and if someone wants to, they can use him as a troop-builder too (though fans have pointed out his name badge sort of negates that, but it is a simple enough fix). Grunt's release also finally marks the Classified debut for the iconic G.I. Joe XMLR 3A laser rifle that was so prevalent in the original toy line, the comics and the cartoon.
Grunt comes with the following gear and accessories: a backpack, an assault rifle with removable ammo clip, a removable helmet, a knife, a laser rifle, a pistol and an alternate Steel Brigade-style head. *Note that his data pad device attached to his tactical vest can also be removed as an accessory. Using the poll options, rate the figure on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being a total miss and a 10 being plastic perfection, based on what you feel the figure deserves. Ratings should take overall design, sculpt, paint apps and paint deco, accessories and articulation into consideration. Thanks for voting and Yooo Joe!!! 8. The Steel Brigade helmet makes a ho-hum figure, quite a bit more interesting, especially with the height issue of the regular Steel Brigade release. Great GI JOe Greenshirt that manages to combine both the classic Greenshirt look and the concept of the Steel Brigade. Also Target pricing these at $11.99 made them a great cheap army builder if you could get them.

10- I had set my expectations low with this one, as a plain soldier who I was never that excited about the original. But when I got him out of the package, WOW! The laser rifle had a slight curve, but no big, and ll of the other accessories were so good. Love both helmets, even though I don't think I will use the SC helmet on him. I like the data pad and duel ended knife sheath, the rifle is great and he holds it well. He is just a great overall figure and presentation. Of of my favorites of the year surprisingly.

I was going to pass on Grunt, but my son wanted me to grab him. Super happy I did. I gave him a 9 out of ten. Docked one point for having his name displayed prominently, for all the troop builders out there.

Probably going to give him a 10 as well.

I have to give him a 10. I was pleasantly surprised with this figure. Accessories weren’t gummy and the overall figure was designed well.
I had no intention of army building, especially considering his name is on the vest, but I like the inclusion of the Steel Corps helmet/head. I hope the rest of the last remaining OG13 also come with Steel Corps helmets/heads because they are the most boring of the lot. |

10. Wasn't expecting to like Grunt this much based on the product photography. Really well put together figure out of the package. No QC issues whatsoever. Joints are nice...he poses well and stays in pose with no issue. Appreciated the choice of heads and rifles, the rest of his gear was good too with details like the data pad and behind-the-back magazine pouch. No complaints about the design elements or uniform as an early year Joe fan.

Grunt by himself is a solid figure; but the extra Helmet( head ) and classic laser rifle takes it to another level. When Target had that crazy screw up $11.99 price I bought 6 more! Grunt is great and having a squad of Green Shirts is awesome! 10 for me!

"Classified" 87 is a pretty mediocre Grunt. The design is trying way too hard to be both "vintage" and "modern" at the same time, with the present-day helmet and plate-carrier, the painfully retro backpack and semi-modern AR, and just ends up looking confused and disharmonious, as opposed to the more fully-modernized Rock 'n Roll, who fared much better in terms of his overall design gelling (also, unlike RnR, the tiny helmet with Grunt included sadly doesn't do the charmingly Hall of Fame-reminiscent headsculpt any favours).
What saves the figure is that the included "Steel Corps" helmet/headsculpt instantly converts him into an extremely cool army-builder; arguably a much better one than the more vintage-inspired "Steel Corps" 2-pack figures given the latter's height problems and reduced availability by comparison. It also ties the "Steel Corps" imagery to the "Green Shirt" concept from the Sunbow cartoons, which should mean something to those who care about such things. All in all, 7/10.
