when I was little, I only had one viper and one python patrol crimson guard. I am older now and I bought about 30 crimson guards. Can I say it never filled the void I felt as a child. I thought it would. I have run out of room on my shelf and had to start putting them in storage. from now on its 1-3 troops for me. You have to stop when you say " I can either eat dinner or get one more cobra viper."

I usually army build in multiples of 3 (3,6,9,12), and do so because they do look cool when in groups - and I consider 3 the minimum to consider a group (2 is a pair). And more importantly it makes me happy to look at the groups. Since it makes me unhappy to look at the credit card bills, I think my groups will be more on the smaller side because of all the good stuff Hasbro has started putting out that I NEED to buy

For single carded stuff... or deluxe stuff (like the new RoC Target exclusives) I troop build in 5's. If I really like the figure, I may go further... but always in 5's... like 10 BATS, 10 Vipers, 10 IGs. For vehicles, I build in pairs if it's a generic vehicle... 2 HISS tanks, 2 Steel Crushers etc. If it's a big named vehicle that there should only be 1 of... then just 1. Stuff like Cobra CLAWS and FANGS I have 5 of. The Cobra Island 7 pks... yeah... 5 of those too... that was a chunk of change
I think my biggest reason is that I didn't do it as a kid... and now, since I am able to and can, I do. |

I lost count of all mine, but I usually have at least five of every type except for vehicle drivers. I'll build smaller vehicles too. Hiss tanks, Flight Pods, RAMs, Firebats, Fangs and Claws, at least three of each.
It's just painful when it's a rare guy like the Eels and now the 7-Pack troopers. :( |

I troop built the classic troops, IE BATS, Snow Serpents, Crimson Guards, and Eels (well I tried.. still need more) in groups of 32. It is just how they fit perfect on my shelves.
I tried to do 18-24 of all the others.. some more some less. I even got 18 Hiss Drivers..lol I dont see me doing that ever again though with the current troops in the ROC line. I only bought 1 cobra island pack... if I ever get some discretionary money to spend with my wedding coming up i'll pick up 5 more.. but I am done troop building. |

I open most everything I buy in order to display it. Whether its on a shelf in my display case or in the diorama type displays I plan to do in the future, I what Cobra especially to look like an army.
It doesn't have to be huge, and I set finite limits/goals for number to collect. A platoon of Cobra troopers or HISS tanks, or a squad/team of elite/specialty troopers. |

Thereis nothing more satisfying than having cobra cmdr addresing a large legion of his troops. That being said I almost never buy multiple carded figures. I do like the 6 pack troop builders. I have a pack of BATs and classic blue troops like that (see avitar).
If you have your good guys lined up against your bad guys it is kind of silly that your named joes outnumber your named cobras in order to tip the odds in favor of cobra (in numbers at least) troop building is the way yo go. |

I don't have to justify anything.
I want them so I buy them. I don't have to sell myself or anybody else stories. I've bought a bunch and I've opened everyone of them. Why buy a Mercedes when a Kia will get you everywhere you want to go? |
