Okay, I know some are not excited for a 6” line and some of us are; I’m definitely in the latter category. I went ahead and ordered the full Wave 1 from an E-Bay dealer at a decent price( $129.99 free shipping ). So I have them a month earlier than the retail release. In the midst of all of the current pandemic chaos it was nice to get my box of Joes for escape from reality time lol! This is not a review so much as it is my personal thoughts and grade of what I think of Wave 1. You can find tons of images and video reviews on line. I’ll start with the best:
Destro, WOW guys All I have to say is wow this figure delivers. Beautiful sculpt that has nice modern features blended with his classic look seamlessly into a fantastic Destro that looks modern and evocative of his 1983 figure, could jump out of the comic or cartoon. His joints are tight and work very well with his articulation. His accessories both fit perfectly into his hands or can fit in his weapons case. The green in his eyes is an incredible touch which is very hard to see without direct light, but awesome that Hasbro did this. It’s funny how the only Cobra in the wave is hands down the best figure. Folks he is amazing! Grade: 10( out of 10 ) Snake Eyes, basically the Hasbro Pulse version in all black with less and different accessories. I’m not going to spend much time talking about this figure, but I will say he is incredible and almost perfectly done. Amazing articulation and construction on this guy. The all black with tiny silver and red highlights are nice. My only two complaints are the different weapons for this release( the uzi and 9mm were way better ); and the small red painted dot on his visor is weird. Other than that Snake Eyes is incredible! Grade: 9.5 Duke, man this guy has a lot of controversy let me start with saying once out of the package the gold armor pieces and weapons aren’t that bad. It’s growing on me. The head sculpt is nothing short of amazing as are the little details, like his Airborne insignia, binoculars, classic inspired back pack etc. His articulation and construction are great! He looks so stinking cool in so many poses. I really love this figure despite a couple of little things. Grade: 9.2 Scarlett: Much better than I thought. Yes her colors are bright, yes her crossbow has no arrow in it! But she really is a decent figure, as soon as you open her she grows on you. Great articulation, great construction; minus the odd shoulder pad on her right arm. She is... fun! Really wish she would have come with at least a pistol and a removable arrow to put in the crossbow, and of course tone down the gold paint. Still over all very nice Scarlett. Grade: 8.8 Roadblock: well here is my biggest disappointment from the wave. I absolutely love RB as a character, easily in my top 10 characters. This figure really fails to deliver. His size is great as RB is a big guy, and the sculpt on his upper body is fantastic( hope it gets reused on a future 1984 RB ). And the vest is very 1986 RB which I like. The tattoo is kind of cool, but a little too The Rock instead of comic or toon RB. The head just feels wrong. I mean it’s not horrible, but it just doesn’t feel like Marvin Hinton. RB never sported a full beard. And don’t get me started on that stupid looking tuning fork weapon which I hate! I replaced his weapon with a Marauders Inc. SAW machine gun which looks way better, and brings him up a notch. And then you have the bright gold shin guards and knee pad. Hasbro missed the mark on RB. I really hope they go back and do him justice. Grade: 7.5( when you give him a better weapon it brings him up to an 8 ) Last edited by FlintWO2; 05-05-2020 at 11:26 PM.. |

Thanks for the reviews! This makes me want the figures even more - really looking forward to these.
Also, you pointed out something that for some reason hadn't noticed: I.e., that the Roadblock Classified figure is based on the '86 version of the character (re: the green vest & gray pants), not the '84 version. And, now I understand why why they chose these colors - this makes me appreciate the look more - very nice. I like the Scarlett Classified figure's colors as well - the character has a new look, but IMHO still remains true to the '82 version. Also like the "anime"-style of the face & outfit, etc. |

Thanks guys, these really are nice figures. You can tell the Hasbro team put a lot of love into this line. They just need to tone down the gold paint apps.

I’m so ready to be able to get these in hand and comment!
I guess ordering them direct from Hasbro to prove to them there was interest in the brand was the way to go if you want to be part of the last people to have them in hand!

I agree with what's been said about Hasbro really putting alot of love in this line. Really gives me hope where they may take it. I know alot aren't fond of the style like the shoulder pads or gold accents but these figures sculpt and articulation wise are IMHO the best of their price point and actually alittle better. I would like to see them maybe do a "vintage" wave like they did for Marvel Legends but I'm just happy they're seemingly committed to Joe again.
