With all this said, there is still a steady stream of people on eBay, who flat out just don't realize that what they have is valuable. If you search hard enough, or wait patiently enough, you can still score some bargains. It may also require some creativity though.

Man I was just thinking the same thing! I was kinda surprised at some of the prices I saw for MIB vehicles from the 25th anniversary. I guess it's been 12 years now.
I wonder if Hasbro ever considers the popularity of certain figures / vehicles on eBay? Like I've noticed Killer Whales seem to go somewhere around $100. Why not release a brand new one? I also saw quite an insane listing on eBay for AFA graded MIB Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes from the Mexican Comandos Heroicos for $2.5 million. |

I think it is a combination of less realist sellers on Ebay, Ebay & paypal fees, people seeing toy shows with huge mark ups, and more professionals inflated the prices and of course the demend of the items. I sold my G1 TF collection a few years ago. At the time, I believe people were bidding to jack the prices up to make their own auctions appealing so that they could sell their stuff at a highier price. Then I would get stuck filing non-payers claims. As a result, I had to set my Ebay settings so that you had to have a few credited buys to bid. Of course, I remember working for min wage at like $3.35 so action figures selling for $20 feels kind of high for me. LOL.

I agree prices are going up. I think the 25th vehicles have always been overpriced. I find it more affordable to find a nice condition vintage version then the 25th.
There are still deals out there. I just got a complete slugger for a good deal on ebay. |

Since I received my hasbropulse.com exclusive Snake Eyes, it's re-lit the fire I had for ARAH. I recently got back into collecting the 3 3/4" figures, mostly 25th Anniv. I had quite the collection years and years ago but sold them to help pay for my wedding.
I have already made some purchases on eBay. But I agree I was really taken back at some of the prices these sellers were asking. I managed to obtain alot of the figures I recently bought via the "best offer" option sellers had on their auctions. I have found that once a buyer realizes who they are trying to make a deal with, that's when they get to a more "realistic" playing field. Case in point, I purchased 2 figures and asked for a revised invoice as the seller offered combined shipping. The seller comes back w/a price of almost $10.00 for economy shipping. I went back to him and was like, dude you can ship both of these USPS First Class for at least half the price you quoted me for shipping. Needless to say, he sent another invoice with a shipping cost of just over $5.00. Alot of sellers will definitely try and gouge you every chance they get. It takes patience and sometimes not pulling the trigger. It's ultimately up to, how bad do you want the figure. |

There's a lot of that and I suspect a bit of price fixing as well. Demand also seems to be at an all time high, of course, which begs a few questions:
Where are all of these new fans? Instagram? they're sure not here. And most importantly, if brand popularity is at an all time high, where the hell are my new 4" Joes, Hasbro? It stands to reason that new product would sell well based on the price trends, and it also just might burst that bubble a bit. I miss 2012 GIJoe hunting. |

They're definitely on Instagram and Youtube. On the two of those there's probably like 100 if not 1000 times the amount of action figure collectors as on here. And they all want one thing--6 inch figures. All they collect are 6"--Star Wars Black Series, Marvel Legends, SH Figuarts, Mezco, the list goes on and on. I really do hope we get 4" Joes, but the 6" instagram collectors outnumber us like 100 to one and as Hasbro showed in their ToyFair presentation, their paying attention to the Instagram comments, which isn't a bad thing at all since that is technically listening to their fans.

Sure, I get that, and the 6 vs 4 debate definitely rages on- but that doesn't say much if you take 6" off of the table. The 6" only guys aren't inflating the prices of the originals in most cases I wouldn't think. So my money is on either a whole wave of silent new fans competing for the originals, because the alternative is the same 20 of us gradually becoming more and more insane in regards to what we'll spend on a figure.
