I like them both for many different reasons, However, I have moved on to only customizing 25th figures now
Hasbro has said that the 25th style will be the way they make all GI Joe toys now. Only The Joe Club will make new Joes in the classic style |

hasbro said they are going to stick with the current version and i believe them in this. even when the 25th and movie figures die out and arent made anymore, i think the 25th style is when we will get when they are brought back next.

What are you refering to by old version 1? The 25th line is updating the original line. Do you mean the old old 12" Joes?
Anyway to answer your question, I love the 25th line. The main thing that set Joes apart from other toys back in the day was the articulation and detail. When the Joes came out my Star Wars toys just weren't as cool anymore. The 25th line has done an excellent job taking that articulation even further while making leeps and bounds with the detail. Your favorite characters are instantly recognizable, just better. EDIT OK I get it now. |

From what I understand some of the old molds
are broken or lost. Last edited by performula; 02-02-2008 at 09:43 PM.. |

I love the originals just as much as their new 25th Anniversary counterparts. The problem with re-issuing the originals is that Hasbro no longer has all of the molds for all of the parts that made up the originals. The ones that they had left over they sold to Funskool India to make licensed Joes of cheaper quality. All the other molds were either lost or destroyed. This was one of the biggest problems when it came to the 15th Anniversary editions that were released in 1997 and other relases since then. Hasbro wanted to make a 1985 Snake Eyes, even used the card art, but had to settle for a 1983 Snake Eyes instead. I think his mold is lost forever. As for more recent releases, such as the comic 3-packs from a few years back, a few of the figures were made with different parts because Hasbro no longer had the molds. One of those figures I believe was the remake of 1983 Duke from comic pack #24 in 2005. His arms were made from the mold of a 1983 Gung-Ho.

Another thing I read about is the actual
molds themselves. They lose their detail over time. How true? I don't know. But a couple years ago V1 Storm Shadow didn't look so bad in red. |

I liked the old stuff, but that was some good stuff made for a different time. Everything evolves and to some that's good & bad. With the evolution of the 25th Joe's, I love it. It's a shame we won't see as much vehicles, playsets and characters from the old line, done in this one, but to me, these new ones are better than nothing.

I think its possible to remold loose figures. I dont see why they just dont do that.maybe because there too lazy. anyhow I will always like the original molds the best. but the 25th line does seem pretty cool.
