I may be one of the few people who actually HATE the MOBAT. Even as a kid I never played with mine much. I always thought it was such a dumb vehicle because it didn't hold any figures inside and Steeler had to stick his head out

It would have been much cooler without the rolling feature, and if the turret gun had been better. Also, it's just a big green blob. Sure, the first Joe vehicles were all just green blobs, but any kind of painting highlights or stickers would have helped.

My Mauler is the only surviving piece of my original childhood collection. I even have a picture of me unwrapping it for Christmas. My father made me sell most of my collection when we moved. I had to hide that tank from him.

That's awesome it is still with you after all these years! I got my first Mauler in 2017 - one of the best vehicles in the whole line. The design of it looks modern even today 35 years later. |

So, about a year or two ago, I disassembled the whole thing, shot a coat of primer on it, and then gave it a couple of coats of US Army/USMC Desert Sand and got some repro stickers from Toyhax. It doesn’t look as bad now. |

In 2020 I was able to bring this vintage toy to life. The Mauler is a fantastic platform for conversions. Great plastic. It's impressive to think It was made in 1985. Anybody knows what is Greg Berndtson up to? I believe he was the designer of that toy... in 1984 I did not like the look of the mauler as a kid. Now I get it. With modern electronics and more compact gearboxes the whole hull is freed for more possibilities. I intend on customizing the turret with a hatch and there is still room inside. Maybe a Joe mini fridge and passengers? I really recommend adding suspension to it. We are so lucky to be able to 3D print parts these days... Do you sell that 3D printed hatch part? That’s awesome! |
