Those are 1995 I.R.O.N. Panther Tanks, part of the Sgt. Savage and the Screaming Eagles toy line.
It was originally designed to be the 1995 G.I. Joe Phantom X5-3 Stealth Tank, which would have come with a vintage Hit & Run o-ring style action figure. Because the vintage G.I. Joe line was ended, it was repurposed for Sgt. Savage and the Screaming Eagles of the same year. In 2013 the G.I. Joe Collectors Club did release that cancelled Hit & Run figure in modern 4” figure articulation, as part of the 2013 Night Force convention boxed set. I only have one of those 1995 I.R.O.N. Panther Tanks, which I have re-stickered as a tank for S.K.A.R., since I have no other vehicle for those figures. Is this the version that was supposed to be released with the tank as part of the Battle Rangers in 95? https://www.yojoe.com/action/13/hitandrun3.shtml It's a shame that the Joe line did not go one more year - I think that whole Battle Rangers line would of been amazing. The re-release of the Whale, Battle Platform along with the other prototype vehicles and a return to the more realistic looking figures. It makes sense that the IRON Panther fits in so well with the 3 3/4" line while the other Sgt. Savage vehicles do not. Last edited by HitandRun; 03-14-2020 at 12:59 PM.. |

Yup that's the one. Here's a pic from Justin Bell comparing it to the concept art of the cancelled one http://generalsjoesreborn.com/images...hitnrun-27.jpg

In 2020 I was able to bring this vintage toy to life. The Mauler is a fantastic platform for conversions. Great plastic. It's impressive to think It was made in 1985. Anybody knows what is Greg Berndtson up to? I believe he was the designer of that toy... in 1984 I did not like the look of the mauler as a kid. Now I get it. With modern electronics and more compact gearboxes the whole hull is freed for more possibilities. I intend on customizing the turret with a hatch and there is still room inside. Maybe a Joe mini fridge and passengers? I really recommend adding suspension to it. We are so lucky to be able to 3D print parts these days...
