I vote for the 1982 M.O.B.A.T., only because of childhood nostalgia. It was the grandest toy at the start of the ARAH product line, and received the most attention in the original issues of the Marvel comic story.
When the Mauler eventually came out in 1985, we all knew that it beat the M.O.B.A.T., but it would never be as near to our heart, nor would its driver, Heavy Metal, ever get the respect which Steeler had.

The vintage toy collector in me wanted to vote for the Mauler MBT. However I voted for the Patriot grizzly. I only recently picked one up. I got it off Craigslist last year. It's actually not easy to find one complete. The Play features on that tank are truly fun. The shooting main gun. The traversing tank turret. The Sounds it makes. It's big enough to fit modern figures easily. I kick myself now for not buying the Nightforce version of it at Walmart back in 2004 or whatever year it was out. I remember picking it up looking at it. I should have bought them both they only had two.

I wasn't looking in the toy isles when this was out, however I had seen multiples of it at this discount liquidation store I went to occasionally. In hindsight, I wish I'd picked up everyone I saw, because they were like $12, but I didn't get back into Joe's until RoC, so I missed out on a lot. Feel free to post pics of your grizzly loaded with the modern figures. |

I loved the MOBAT until I got the Mauler. It was better looking and a lot faster!

Mauler. I have all but the Grizzly, but for me the Mauler is the best looking of the bunch.

You young whipper snapper. The Mobat is a favorite of us 1974ers. Well before the Mauler.

Mobat was my first choice but the non-opening hatches knocked it behind the Mauler.

I love the Mauler, but when it came time to pass the torch to my kids the Mauler was edged out by the Elite Force Abrams:

You make a valid point Zap, I even used the Mauler stickers on my version like you did:
