That happens because ebay charges ridiculous fees. Shoppers want a bargain but sellers have to make a profit. To tell you the truth I have went away from auctioning on ebay. I have an ebay store which has a monthly fee of $15, but then each item is only .03 cents to list for 30 days. This lets me list a lot of itmes for reasonable prices. I just pric. the item at what I feel is a reasonable cost and wait for someone who is willing to pay for it to come along. Larger items 1 price to include shipping and list FREE SHIPPING on it, this way when someone is contemplating spending $20 bucks on something, they don't have to look at shipping too. The one price seems to work for me.

I respectfully disagree. Then again, I think it's because of where I live, eh? It depends on the size of the package and the location of the buyer. For a comic book or a figure, if you can get it into a bubble mailer that can get into a mailbox, then First Class shipping is a deal, even to Hawaii If it's a large box of comics etc., First Class/Parcel Post to Hawaii takes almost 2 weeks.

I saw a little while back a great buy it now price"$7.00" for some vintage Mego dolls. Then I looked at the shipping and was surprised to see it was "$62.00". I reported it to e-bay but I don't know if they did anything about it.

If it's a large box of comics etc., First Class/Parcel Post to Hawaii takes almost 2 weeks. We are talking about toys and comics and the like here, not life or death purchases. In this country we have been brainwashed to believe that we absolutely "got to have it right now" and have no patience. When I but on ebay I look for two things: good seller feedback and the best price I can get. IF I have to wait a bit so be it. Life will continue if I have to wait a few weeks. I buy all my new comics from an online retailer. I have the option to get weekly shipping, but choose monthly cause I save a ton of cash that way, and can use the savings to buy more comics instead of pay for shipping. IF everyone complaining about the high fees would just be willing to wait a bit for the things they buy they could get it shipped for cheaper. I wonder how many of the ebay sellers who charge large sums for priority shipping wouldn't be perfectly willing to charge less and just ship it other than priority? |
