This only registered in my brain today, while working on an extra 50th Duke, and doing some research:
So, what is everyone's preference here for the definitive Duke colors for belt and bandolier? Let's assume Hasbro does put out a 50th definitive figure, and they let HissTank chose these colors. I don't think I have a "historical" preference myself--I think I'm going to go with what looks best visually for the second custom. But I'm very interested in what you all's think, and if there is actually any strong opinions one way of the other. Also (bonus question), do you prefer darker tan shirt and green pants, or lighter and closer to the original figure? For these items, I am on the fence, and going with lighter colors on the second custom to have both schemes. Please start Googling, and/or start searching the custom threads, and feel free to post images or custom links that you feel win the case. You might want to start with Pugley's versions last because your search will probably end right there and then... |

I went with Green for the Bandolier. I never had a vintage Duke, so I based mine off of the first 25th version.

For my custom Duke, I went with the green bandolier and belt with darker tan (Kwinn) shirt and dark green pants.
If and when Hasbro returns to G.I. Joe figures, I think an updated Duke figure using the Firefly/DATD Flint torso is a must. Now, if you're asking about ARAH action figure color scheme vs. Sunbow cartoon color scheme, I think the most important variation would be the orange shoulder pieces. Jason |

hmmm. Tough question. I tend to like to see Joes with a resemblance to real world uniforms.
So, IMHO, green is appropriate, but if you go with brown, it should be coyote brown or flat dark earth. As far as shirts, I think the darker tan. Also, fercrisakes, do not put US silver jump wings/master parachutist wings over the right breast pocket. Foreign jump wings would appropriately be worn there, but not US wings. |
