Since I started trying to collect Gi Joe from the 80's after shifting from Sportscard collecting I can't figure out what the Acronym MOC means.......hell ive been in the Army for 20 years and thought I had all the acronyms figured out. What does MOC mean......all I can tell is unopened......am I right? I'm new to this collecting but an old collector at heart.

and with that being said.......man I wish I would have kept mine un-ripped but I was a kid living in the country so Gi Joe was in the dirt playing as hard as I was.

I've had to do the ol' Xacto, superglue and recard before, especially with NECA figures.

For GI Joe figures, I tend to buy 2, one to open and 1 to display. Vehicles, I open and keep the box. For the other toy lines I collect, most of them come in a resealable box, so I open those.
If you want to display carded figures, they make a product called slatwall which is used in stores that is nicer than pegboard from the hardware store. here's an example from Home Depot: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Flow-Wal...WB11/204181019 That's how I keep the carded stuff so I can still display it. All the opened stuff is on shelves behind glass. |

If you use an xacto-knife, as mentioned earlier, and only cut along the top of the bubble, the figure can be removed from the package without damaging the artwork. Then, later, if you decide to sell it (which, in my opinion, is the only reason to even have this debate), you can sell it as a dual "play or display" figure.

I still like to play with them, but whatever floats your boat and is right for you. I think people keep them MOC because they are hoping to someday sell them. Just remember, it took 30 years for vintage figures to reach the value they have. Sorry me of us may not make it that long...

I'm in the same boat. I bought a lot of mine with the intent to open but either just don't get around to it or whatever then certain figures skyrocket in price so then i'm torn. Others I have tear right open. Others I do really want to keep MOC for my own records. Back when figures were cheaper than they have been in the last few years I would get two. one to open and one to keep sealed but have since not done that. I will say this. a lot of the figures I got for really really cheap or clearance way back when I definitely opened. Many of those very much surprised me.
