I have Vallejo and Citadel paints I've used for miniatures in the past. Will those work?

Anything acrylic should be fine; anything enamel, stay away.
As long as you have the right finish type (flat/satin/gloss) to match the face, and get a few thin, smooth coats down, and seal to protect against scratches, any acrylic black should be great. (Of course seals can be had in different finish types, too) |

If you aren't able to find the modern versions, I did find this Chinese seller selling a few at a damn good price...

I tweaked my display slightly. I plan to add a few more Joes to the battle scene (Flint and 50th Snake Eyes, I think).
I have a massive build up of troops and Marauder figures on my desk that I haven't figured out how to display yet.

It's been enjoyable watching this collection/display morph and grow.
And getting that many troopers to stand without stands is a tremendous feat! |

I've gone way overboard compared to my original goals (and way over budget, but thank goodness I had surplus stuff to sell) and will have to trim back at some point. But for now I'm really enjoying picking up new stuff regularly. Oh, and almost all of my figures stand very easily. I'm really impressed with the modern figures in this regard. It's actually harder to get MOTUC or 6" figures to stand.

The Sunbow Cobra laser is awesome. It's a serious shame that Marauder doesn't make this gun. I would love about a dozen or so more.

I suspect Sunbow or Hasbro may have some intellectual property rights the Cobra laser gun design but I’m only speculating.

Marauder makes the GI Joe laser rifle (and their version is great).

As hard as modern Joes are to find (and it's frustrating to search eBay because many people label them wrong and there's just so much vintage stuff), it's been very fun collecting a new line. It's obviously not a "living" line, but I already have basically every MOTUC figure I ever will and Star Wars Black Series releases like one figure a year that interests me (although getting Tarkin, Piett, and Veers in 2018 is an unexpected win). So it's been great collecting something where I can actually find what I want.
It is addicting but fun. I set hard goals and try not to break them. The ebbs and flows of buyers’ remorse vs regret over not buying that toy that now fetches 10xs it’s value on EBay can be as exhausting as playing penny stocks. Is that where you got the ones in the photo? I’m a big fan of MGR but assumed you were using some of the actual ME Hasbro Cobra Lasers.
