At Toy Fair in NYC today, Hasbro launched "HasLab" which requires 5000 fans to pay $500 in advance for a 3.75" Jabba's Sail Barge by April 3rd. If this works, one could only dream of the potential for modern-era vintage themed GI Joe playsets:

A Flagg to our standards is probably still out of touch....But a really good modern Terrordrome?
Now you're on to something...

They have to hit 2 1/2 million dollars (unless my math is wrong). I wonder if they'll make it (and where I'll come up with another $500 if they do).

I could go for this if it was a FLAGG that was retooled for ME figs. It would be sweet if it was modular. As long as they announce it in advance, I think most people could save up enough cash. We won't have con sets, and FSS to pay for, so I think that would work just fine!!!

Oh this COULD be good for use. I’d pay for a Flagg or a Terrordrome or Whale. How about Golobulus for damn sake.

Nah, it'll never happen. Joe fans only pay those sorts of dollars to 3rd. party kickstarters and old shit on the secondary market, but never for brand new stuff from Hasbro. We'd wait for Ross.

More Star Wars collectors than Joe ones worldwide. $500 is a lot, yet, for people who are hardcore, they'll be getting two. I can see this making its goal. A similar Joe item...not likely. Maybe if they aimed for something smaller. (THE COBRA TRANSPORT COPTER FROM THE COMICS)

This is a good thing. I really wish Hasbro would have started doing a Kickstarter-esque approach to toys earlier. I'm glad they're testing the waters with the Star Wars crowd to hoping show that it can be profitable and extend that over to GI Joe.
You guys are already talking Flagg and TD? Heck, I'd be happy with something like the Whale and then see them build their way up from there. |

A whale shouldn't be $500. A Whale would be about $100-125. Wasn't the Pit $99 and that's bigger than the whale.
