Thanks for confirming (just realizing now how badly my work tablet autocorrected me). I'm like a child on Christmas Eve, and I want to know what else Santa might bring. Hoping to see some Joe teasers by the end of the year.

I do hope that other Hasbro Brands jump on board (no pun) that they do stagger the projects. I collect many lines and would hate to have projects compete with one another.

A retail toy is going to have to sell a lot more than 5,000 copies. That would be like 1 figure per Walmart store. Granted that seems to be more than they get of some of their own exclusives... But the demand from people who are buying the barge yet don't already have the alien is going to be miniscule compared to how many people need to buy that figure to make it viable.
I don't know if you can go by the size of the set as the gospel canon size of the vehicle. They would naturally try to build the set smaller than actual size if filming didn't require it to be actual size. The long shots showing the vehicle in full scale usually seem to be done with models or mattes. And other camera lens and angle tricks can be used to make the vehicle appear larger on screen when filming than it was built. |

There may be collectors beyond Barge Backers who would want the figures for their modern collections if they are vintage characters/versions in that Vintage Collection packaging that have not been released in the modern era. EDIT: just read a q and a with Hasbro on rebelscum.com. they say there will be limited retail support for the barge. So like the rebel Hoth trooper, we may get a few figures peppered into the vintage collection line but not much.

This bodes well for the Gi Joe fandom because it is now possible for a GI Joe Haslab product. In the Jeditas article, the Haslab crew indicated that Joe was a possible liscense they are looking at projects for. The article also indicates that although one Star Wars project will be planned per year, this doesn’t mean that parallel projects won’t be offer d simultaneously. Here’s to hoping.

I just checked out the link with Jabba's battle barge. That thing looks fantastic - I am cautiously optimistic that Haslab will crank out some Joe stuff.

I agree. From a Hasbro Stand point if SW fans won't back a large project like this than nobody will. I still think it was a bit over ambitious to start with such a large peice dispite it being a highly demanded Item. Most people just don't have that kind of coin for one toy.

Okay you know the problems with this Barge project? I can list out TONS of them. And this is coming from someone who actually wants it to succeed. I just don't think it will for the reasons below.
1. Really? Hasbro Kick starting Sail Barge? 2. A short time frame for pre-orders, barely more than 2 months. With no advertising. 3. U.S. Canadian customers only? Oh wow, so no one else can pre-order or kickstart it? 4. I'm not gonna go into the price of $500, but why does Hasbro get the customer's money right now, which allows them to buy bonds and profit off that cash? 5. What, so Hasbro is only making 5,000 sail barges? GET REAL, if this gets backed, is there any guarantee they aren't gonna make MORE OF THEM to sell later on? 6. You pay tax on the barge. WOOOOOOWWWW. You pay shipping too, on a 14 pound object. WOWWWWWWWW. That's substantial, it means the sail barge is actually closer to 600 to whatever. 7. Aren't the details particularly excessive for the Barge? Do you remember seeing the kitchen in Return of The Jedi? The Prison cell? 8. So Hasbro wants to start requiring their customers to poney up for whatever projects they come up with? With their own cash right now? 6207 of 5,000 backer goal with 2 days to go. *Nelson voice* Haha! |

Looks like folks forgot that most Kickstarters have a surge toward the end.
