I also realize I just drew the ire of half the tank for advocating flipping it, but you want, as a Gi Joe fan, for HasLab to be successful, or more importantly perceived as successful, to Hasbro in order for their to be a chance for it to even consider Gi Joe options. If successful you can make a not small leap of logic to see a Cybertron diorama, or an Ark-1 for the transformers, or Scorponok MP, or a Terrordrome. So, even if you support to flip, and it's a long game from an investment standpoint as you are looking at 18 months of capital investment time, by flipping you are giving a chance to the HasLab and our dreams of Joe.

Hasbro also increased their guaranteed payment to Disney for the SW license recently, and given the toy sales for the recent movie (P...U...) Hasbro has to find a way to make some ducats and likely quick!

However, the idea that Joe fans should financially support this and, presumably, any and all Haslab projects for other IPs in the blind hope that they might, maybe, eventually touch on a Joe product...is just a bit silly to me. Don't chase after the pig. Personally, I wouldn't suggest anyone buy this barge unless they have either 1) a great interest in it; or 2) more money than imagination. If the sail barge is not calling out to you for what it is then I say save your money or find a better place to spend the $500.

I agree with resale value. It is not be offered overseas as part of the deal so if you can find the whales willing to pay shipping and imports, it will sale very well later.

I'm with this guy. I think at 40% funded with over a month to go they will hit their target running away. I also think the resell value on this will double in price soon after shipping. Hear me out on this as I understand that if 5K people already own one, then the market for this could be perceived to be small, but it will hit in spring of 2019, when the marketing push for the last SW installment in the original universe will be start to ramp up as it builds up to the swan song. Give it a few months of hype, people latch on to the exclusivity of it, not to mention the sheer size. If it is as intricate and well produced as I naively expect it to be for $500, then you have a resell monster on your hands. All you have to do is invest $500 in it, find storage space for a behemoth of a box, and you can flip it for a pretty penny later. Good luck shipping it to your next customer though!

Hasbro's timing on the Sail Barge was smart... ends right before tax day so people can use their refund on this. I'm not 100% it will get funded but I think it will get close.

bluesparrow's argument is sound, a large percentage of people that are receiving a tax refund file their taxes well before the Mid April deadline. Obviously if you are getting money back from the IRS you want it ASAP. I have a friend that owns various value restaurants in lower to middle income markets and his best months are February through April exactly because of the Tax Refunds.
