Both 'Supporters' and 'Nay-sayers' share the same core of loyalty and respect for the G.I. Joe brand. However, we express our views in different ways. I think there’s something being lost in translation because we’re on the same side when it comes to the future of our beloved G.I. Joe brand. I KNOW the ‘Supporters’ want to see the franchise grow and develop into something that rivals the Star Wars brand and the ‘Nay-sayers’ want the future of the brand to keep it’s origins in tact of which origins have allowed this moment of fame. I’m empathetic to the disgust of ‘Nay-sayers’ and their belief that Hasbro should be loyal to them for they have made the franchise what it is today. Without them the 25th/Modern Era line would not have been as successful.
What if Hasbro gave the ‘Nay-sayers’ total autonomy of the direction of the franchise, what would we see? To be fair you have to omit the Resolute cartoon and all toys affiliated with it. Understand, the famed Resolute project was the result of innovative thinking, of which has appealed to Paramount studios and brought us ROC. So again, YOU the ‘Nay-Sayers’ have the keys to drive G.I. Joe for the next seven years. What can we expect from you? How would you capture a new audience and increase revenues? What toys would you release? Will there be a cartoon, if so how will it look? Describe the atmosphere of your depiction of a G.I. Joe movie? Enlighten us with your storyline? Would it be animated or live actors? More importantly, if your chosen direction with the franchise is failing or becomes exhausted, what would you ROC… err, TRY differently? |

Do you ever try to take these kind of threads seriously or just feel the obnoxious need to well, sorry but.. be a jerk?
Seriously, if not going to take the thread seriously and the topic seriously, then just don't post. I'm not a "nay-sayer" but I'll go with this.. I think ARAH as we know it is pretty dated. Resolute was an OK update, but I don't think it would have caught the attention of today's audience to much. I'd make a new cartoon, kid-friendly, but more geared towards the 10-13 range. Action orienated. Trim the Joe team way down and make it more of a rapid response unit. I'd get rid of the more "out-there" weapons and gear, make Cobra a bigger threat. I'd give Cobra the "out-there" stuff. They'd be a huge and competant army. They should win more then they lose or else there's no threat. They have access to technologies that no one else does, yes that includes nano-mites. The Joes need to be underdogs. They're totally secret, no reporters nosing around, etc.. The tone would be serious, but moments of light heartedness, there would be one-liners, but nothing cheesy. Continuing plots that take 2 or more episodes to wrap up. There would be death. Really I'd go with the way I have my Joeverse organized. There would be an Alpha Team (the Joe army, with air support, armor, artillery, etc..) and the Delta Teams (the Joe's sneaky special ops guys). They'd be HQed in a mountain fortress (which I am currently designing one to make it more real, the PITs as shown in the comics were never big enough). Cobra would be dangerous and with their level of tech, they would be a match for any army. So the Joes would be more sneaky, no direct battlefield confrontations, they wouldn't survive those with Cobra. The plot of RoC isn't bad, really what's annoying people is the A-Suits and that Destro is the main baddie and not CC. Replace Destro with CC and get rid of the A-Suits and you'd have a very good Joe movie.

Pink for the girls and ninja for the boys. That was my answer. Sorry you don't like it but frankly I don't care what you like. |

It was a play on the idea of supporting both male and female.
Pink Ninjas. We have Blue Cobra Soldiers, why not pink ninjas? It might actually appeal to someone. I like the idea of the movie but the way they twisted the story was kinda lame. I would have liked a more traditional military movie as opposed to the slapstick humor filled silly fest. That is all. |

I agree with a lot of what Troynos said, although having reporters nosing around could be intersting. I'm thinking of Jack McGee from the old Hulk TV show. Someone who is serious and is really trying to learn about a top secret unit "because the public has a right to know". AS to the rest, yeah, no lasers or flamethrowers. Mini tanks and AWE Strikers vs. HISS tanks. And BTW, I'm not really a naysayer, but I agree that some things just need to change to keep the franchise alive and relevant in today's world.
