I second. If a company creates an ARAH style action figure line whose parts are 100% compatible with vintage Joes I would buy EVERY product they release.

6" and 3.75" are not and never have been in any kind of competition with each other. One coming back or going away has no bearing on the demand for the other.
We can all see the Walmart 3.75" super-articulated Star Wars figures are on clearance at Walmart for $5. So if clearance is a sign of demand, there is no demand for any Star Wars figures. The new 6" 40th Anniversary line appears to be very hot though, with R5-D4, Luke X-Wing, R2-D2 and Han selling out nationwide. Quote:

I have commented on this many times, but I would love a 6" line of G.I. Joe figures. I love Marvel Legends, and The Black Series is my favorite line to collect. I still thoroughly enjoy the 3 3/4" scale of Star Wars and Joe figures and for vehicles that is by far the best scale. But the 6" lines are primarily about the characters with some vehicle compliments. When A Real American Hero was conceived it was a vehicle line with figure compliments. But we don't live in the 1980's anymore, and vehicles just don't sell like they used to. It is the G.I. Joe characters I love, the vehicles were cool, but the characters is what kept me with Joes. When Kreos came out I was all for them and bought a bunch, but I didn't stop collecting my 3 3/4" Joes. It would be no different for a 6" line of G.I. Joes. I would be all in for 3 or 4 waves a year. There's the first 2 to 3 years.
Wave 1: 1. Duke new tooling 2. Snake Eyes new tooling 3. Scarlett new tooling 4.Cobra Commander new tooling 5. Storm Shadow new tooling 6. Cobra Trooper new head, torso and arms Wave 2: 1. Destro new tooling 2. Firefly SE body, if SE is V1 3. Cobra Officer Cobra Trooper body 4. Flint new head and arms, rest Duke body 5. Roadblock new tooling 6. Gung-Ho RB arms, rest new Wave 3: 1. General Hawk Duke legs, rest new 2. Beach Head SE/Firely base body 3. Stalker SE or Cobra Trooper body, new head 4. Zartan new tooling 5. Baroness new tooling 6. Crimson Guard new tooling Wave 4: 1. Dr. Mindbender new tooling 2. Major Bludd new tooling, might use Zartan legs 3. Battle Android Trooper new tooling 4. Lady Jaye new tooling 5. Low-Light new tooling 6. Shipwreck new tooling or SE body for DDP look Wave 5: 1. Dusty CT body, new head 2. Spirit Flint body with new head and lower legs 3. Recondo Flint body with new waist and head 4. Serpentor new tooling 5. Zarana new tooling 6. Cobra Viper new tooling Wave 6: 1. Torch new tooling 2. Ripper new tooling 3. Buzzer new tooling 4. Snow Job new tooling 5. Doc Duke body with new head and lower legs 6. Breaker Cobra Trooper with new head and Flint arms Wave 7: 1. Lt. Falcon Cobra Trooper with new head and Duke arms 2. Outback new tooling 3. What made G.I. Joe great was in a big part their vehicles. If you see the vehicles created for 6" action figures they are generally personal vehicles, the biggest ones, perhaps aimed up to five figures (very expensive by the way) are the exception and not the rule.
Believe it or not it is not about "2" more inches is only a bit bigger", those 2" will increase the cost of creation of a vehicle exponentially from the beginning, starting from the drawing board to the casting process. |

The Star Wars 40th Anniversary figures you mention appear "hot" because R2-D2 and Han are short packed 1 per case, R5-D4 is exclusive to GameStop and Luke X-Wing was a very limited edition Celebration Orlando exclusive. The rest of the 40th wave 1 are easy to find. Leia sells better than Luke or Obi-Wan because she has a new head sculpt.

Don't forget, Black series 6" figures tend to come out in waves of four.
All it would take would for them to release a dud and a minor repaint in a wave with a coveted army builder to completely stall the line. Three waves in, Crimson Guardsman is torn out of boxes and scalped on Ebay for $60 before they even make it to shelves, and Gung Ho moves briskly, while an unfortunately awkward-faced Duke and black uniform Cobra Commander (repainted from blue uniform CC in wave 1) sit for months and gather dust, joining with an oddly proportioned Scarlett from the prior wave. Wave four gets very limited distribution, on account of shelved cluttered with remnants of older waves.

Well, Hasbro has to abandon the idea of "holding back" better, hotter figures for future waves. Gentle Giant just tried that and killed their Jumbo Joe line. The RIGHT away to release a toy line is to start with all the hottest characters in order and work your way down from there. So many people will be hooked after 4 or so waves that then they WILL be interested in continuing to buy more minor characters.
Likewise, if Hasbro can't hire sculptors to make proper faces and bodies then, no, they shouldn't do the toy line. They should cancel toy production and launch a breakfast cereal company or something else instead. Quote:

Not entirely accurate, they just made a 3.75" GOTG movie 2-pack with two fully articulated figures in it. Last edited by JediJones; 04-23-2017 at 08:53 AM.. |

The current 4" G.I. Joe line is targeted at collectors. You can see how having a 6" line has negatively affected product offerings available to SW and Marvel collectors in the 4" scale. The vehicles in SW are getting smalller and less frequent (compare the SW Rebels A-Wing to previous versions). Marvel is cutting articulation in their 4" movie figures or eliminating 4" figures completely (GOTG). I think the only 4" GOTG figures are 5 POA and based on the cartoon. I would have bought a set of fully articulated 4" GOTG movie figures, but they were never made available. For some reason, MCU movie toys are 6" or 2".
And the discussion wasn't how a 6" line negatively impacts a 4" line but how the future 4" line would dictate what the 6" line designs would be. |

By that logic Star Wars and Marvel and Transformers are in competition with G.I. Joe too. In theory every consumer product is in competition with every other one, but that kind of competition is a GOOD thing. That gives more choices to the consumer. If 6" truly is wanted by collectors and they buy it instead of 3.75" then that means Hasbro was right to make them. What's the alternative, deny fans the 6" figures they want so they can be held hostage to buying toys they don't want as much to satisfy a separate group of selfish people?

There is no connection whatsoever. The idea that a 6" line affected the size of Star Wars 4"-scale vehicles is just...about as logical as saying me painting my house green caused a tornado in Guatemala. If you think there is a connection between two unrelated things, it's your job to supply the evidence proving it, which you haven't even attempted to do.
