Sniping is easy, and you don't need software to do it. You just need to be available to bid at the last second.
Pick your high price, type it in, press enter once. Now you are at the final bid confirmation screen. Wait until there's about five seconds left, then pull that trigger. It's that simple. Of course, there's still no guarantee that you have the highest bid. |

I used ebay a lot back many years ago. Now I don't use it at all.
I don't like ebay. I'd much rather trade or buy from people here.

I sold my Tongue-a-Saurus a while back. I had it listed as US shipping only. In the last minute of the auction some dude from Brazil swoops in and bids on the thing. He never ocntacted me to see if I wanted to ship internationally.
There are several things wrong with this. Now that ebay charges a fee on shipping fees, I don't want th ship big packages overseas. It erodes my profit margin. Secondly ebay requires some standard "risk management" language about customs charges on international auctions. Well the long and the short is the Brazillian didn't pay. The second place bidder accused me of shill bidding when I second chanced him. The third place bidder ened up taking the item, but his bid was 90 dollars lower than the winning bidders. |

I won't even watch an auction with a reserve on it, just because it usually means the seller's got some ridiculous price in mind and I've got better things to do. Why would I bother trying to win a $100 item that may have a $500 reserve on it? There's so much stuff listed on eBay, I only bid on listings where if I have the high bid I get the item. Quote:
QFT. They're also apparently 95% of the people bidding on eBay these days. Maybe it's because ebay hide the auctions you win under Purchase History, but ever since November or so I've had tons of people win and then just never pay. Not awesome.

I hate that eBay gets a cut of the seller's shipping fee. I understand why they did it, but it still sucks.

AND......
What the heck is this about bidders being able to cancel their bids??? I just had that happen to me and it's happened some in the past. Don't bid if you're not certain you want it!!!

Personally, I cant stand sellers that feel the need to put 'VHTF!!!!!!!!!!' after everything they list, ESPECIALLY when their items are not hard to find at all.
And of course, there's the dreaded 'big shipper,' who tries to rip you off with shipping. Those accessory sellers are notorious for this. On two separate occasions I found an accessory I needed (a bipod for a vintage Dusty, and a mic for a vintage Lift Ticket). the sellers wanted 5$ to ship an item which could have easily fit in an evelope for the price of a stamp...bastards. I would also say the last minute bidder, because I hate losing an auction at the last minute.....but I totally do that too, lol. As for the shipping ebay takes a percentage of the shipping now so that is a reason why peolpe jack up shipping as they have to pay for the final value fee, shipping fee, and paypal fee. |

on the "sellers who wait a week to ship" subject:
I hate when a seller uses the paypal built in shipping thing to print a label right away (or the next day, or whatever) but then they don't actually put it in the mail for 4 days. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PUT IT IN YOUR MAILBOX WITH THE FLAG UP! |
