I'm with DPrime. I consider Greenshirts to be regular army. Joes are Special Forces detachment Delta.

Don't usually post here, but the burning questions need answering:
"Greenshirts" were introduced into the comic with DDP#1, being adapted from the cartoon per Josh Blaylock's incompetant and rampant misunderstanding of everything that made the Marvel comic great. Initially meant to fill in the ranks, and learn from the older Joes (whom Blaylock had aged to the cusp of retirement in hopes of sweeping them all away in favor of his own characters like Kamakura), they were done away with after Brandon Jerwa took over the title (with #26). Only one made it big during the Blaylock reign, FBI agent Tony Bueke who got the hand-me-down codename Sneak Peek then got killed by a BAT (the same issue). The other two who had been given names were promoted to full-fledged members (Mariner and Mayday), and were mixed in with some of Hasbro's new characters (Depth Charge, Hacker, Barrel Roll, Dart) to ease the transition. After that, Greenshirts were relegated to GIJoe's "training program" where they assissted the Joes, but were never part of the team. One such mission, Tom Stall screwed the pooch, and got court martialed for insubordination and wreckless behavior. He then joined Cobra and became Blackout. Hasbro used DDP's incorporation of the Greenshirt concept into the toyline, starting with the first 2002/3 Mail-Away "Reservist" figure. They also released a 6-pack of generic Joes to mirror their Cobra Trooper 6-packs. It's sadly become a trend that Hasbro continues, hoping for Army Building sales that match the Cobra packs. Personally, I've never owned a Greenshirt, and i never will. |

They are from the cartoon and that is why I am getting them. You can ignore them and say what you want but they were part of the original GI Joe Cartoon series.
