I find that some of the older figures display well with the more modern figures. The taller ones especially like the mid 2000's Iron Grenadiers. Opinions?

There may be A FEW from the mid 2000s line but not many. I want a Venomous Maximus and I think he will fit in.

I mix all the '82-'15 Joes together for the most part. But I am mainly a Cobra guy/ army builder. The VvV Iron Grenadier are some of my faves from that era and they fit in nicely.
Aren't people different heights where you live? I am 6'2" and I have a friend who is 5'0". If a 4 inch figure represents a 6'2" individual, then using math that means a 3.75" figure represents a 5'9" individual, if my math is right. This is a very typical range to represent average people. I'm not saying standing a modern 50th Baroness next to an original 1986 Sgt Slaughter is a great idea, but I can definitely say the 25th Nemesis Enforcer (Immortal) looks way better standing next to Golobulus than the 1987 release does.

I mix them in my dios: Cobra Cy. I think I make it work. Others may disagree, but check it out for good examples, and make your own choices!

I have gotten lately where I mostly use the O ring and new sculpt era guys as vehicle driver and gunner filler, So much so that it sort of bothers me if I " waste" a ME guy in a vehicle, but there are few situations where I do it. But for the most part its O ring and new sculpt in the vehicles and ME guys as standing armies or loose characters to play with.

Yea the Iron Grenadiers, and the Sand-Vipers look great. My favorite are the Cobra Coils.

Coils are rad. I don't have any, but I'm always jealous when I see them.

the massive shoulder and elbow bolts stand out too much for me to ignore on most of them so I don't think I have anything pre-ME displayed.

Swamp Rats work, along with the Spytroops Zarana, Spytroops Ripper, and Valor vs. Venom Overkill(not the one that looks like it's from I, Robot) as a few examples.
