Stumbled upon this old thread while trying to find info about the Canadian Joecon box sets.
Hoping someone has (and is willing to take pics of) some filecards from any of these unofficial convention exclusives? I'd love to add some of these characters to my joeverse db.

When Mike Heddle of Bounty Hunter Toys started these informal gatherings in 2002, they were Canadian Joe Meets held at Hamilton, Ontario. He delayed the 2003 one to do some more planning, and in 2004 offered 20 Joe Canuck action figures. His figure plans fell apart in 2005, so instead he had 50 Joe Canuck trading card game cards made up. He increased the number of action figures to 30 for 2006 with the Black Ice figure, and 2007 with the Shiver figure. Unofficially, the first Canadian Joe Convention was in 2008, but it was still called the Canadian Joe Meet. It offered 30 Snowbank action figures and had Larry Hama as a guest. Larry Hama wrote the filecard for Snowbank, which makes that character a bit more interesting to me. ![]() The first OFFICIAL Canadian Joe Convention was in 2009 and offered 100 boxed sets containing three modern era constructed action figures and two vehicles. One of the villain figures inside, named Chacal Noir, had a filecard written by Larry Hama. ![]()

Yes Jymree, I can take some filecard pictures for you, but understand that there are MANY characters that were invented for the Canadian G.I. Joe Conventions. For example, the 2011 boxed set had seven different character filecards, and five others in the 2012 set. Are there any particular ones you were interested in, or are you just generally curious?

Full disclosure, my interest lies in augmenting the ranks of colorful characters and subgroups in my own joeverse, which currently spans about 700 individuals and 100 or so troop types over 60ish years. I doubt I'll ever own any of these convention sets - especially at their going prices - but I might kitbash a stand-in for the characters I especially like. Appreciate you fella!

You're a rockstar Playfull, as ever. To your question, I'm particularly interested in the FCs of the 2009-2012 box sets, not because they are aren't official, but because the level of effort that went into them (including the afore mentioned involvement of Hama) makes them feel like something more than fanfiction.

I prefer the character Snowbank over Joe Canuck (their main character) for some reason. Because I was never able to acquire a Snowbank figure for my collection, I simply made my own custom of him in the modern era build. Here's an extra bio page of him, but the information is identical to his 2008 filecard. ![]() When Larry Hama wrote the bio for Chacal Noir, not all of the lines would fit on the filecard, and a fuller version of that text appears on this page below. ![]()
