That is true but places like Walmart are already focusing on the movie line and not ordering anymore ME waves.

The reson I have stopped collecting the 25th Modern line is because ... THERE AIN'T SH!T ON THE SHELVES!!! I MEAN COME ON... I am not the only one who has stopped collecting due to this matter at hand! You can't collect it if it's not there to buy!!! HELLO... MACFLY!!!
Someone got it right on the second post. Not my style on the wording, but correct just the same. For some reason I have to play Jonny be goode.

I got frustrated with the lack of availablity of products. The UBP was a piece I would have loved to get my hands on. Same with the Target jets. And quite frankly I'm not going to be paying $50-$100 for every Target vehicle that comes out. The real joke is that Target drops the stuff on clearance while we play inflated prices to get the stuff that was probably less than half price.

I really slowed down around wave 11 because I wasn't with the direction the line was going. Things like Pilot Scarlett and Matt trakker and Cobra Flint was really making me angry. I barely got any of wave 12 and 13. I also passed on the wave 7 comic packs but did get wave 8.

i stopped collecting because there is nothing new coming out, plus i would rather collect vintage, i just enjoy them more, the modern line doesnt have that nostolgia feeling for me so i had no problem getting rid of them. i would rather have vintage joes anyway.
im sure i will end up buying alot of modern figures back again but i wanted to focus on vintage for now during the break.

Hmm... So many factors...
I wasn't originally going to start collecting any of the ME/25th stuff, but upon receiving one as a birthday present I thought they were pretty cool. I wasn't going to be a completionist, but ended up doing what I always do with Joes. Eventually, with all the BBTS preorders, having my best friend track stuff down, having to resort to ebay, etc. I got sick of spending so much money. Something that really annoyed me was the following scenario: 1. Miss out on a preorder 2. The figure couldn't be found by my friend 3. Buy it on ebay for too much money 4. It becomes available via in a subsequent wave full of other figures I want/need. 5. End up spending too much on unwanted duplicates. Also, as far as money is concerned my priorities have changed pretty drastically. I was already getting tired of spending last summer, and finding that I'd shelled out over $400 on preorders last September alone was a real (cliche) "wake up call." I wasn't "collecting" anymore; just consuming and given that all my stuff was going home and I'm here in Japan, my chances to actually see it aren't often. So when I went home for Christmas last year, and saw how much I'd accumulated so effortlessly, I wasn't happy. I was actually pretty overwhelmed and depressed by the sheer volume of product, so I decided that was it for me. Add to that, I was helping my best friend sort out some of his RAH collection, and I picked up a few RAH pieces I wanted while I was home for the holidays. *Those* things made me really happy. RAH is why I got back in to collecting Joes in 2000. I seriously regret dropping *so* much cash on about 95% of what I've bought since then, so I've been in the process of selling of as much as I can. So in a nutshell, for me it's a combination of cost, priorities, lack of interest, and an attempt to be more responsible with my money. I still love G.I. Joe and I still collect RAH (much more relaxing *hobby* as opposed to a stressful consumerism), and I'm content. For me there's more of an "innocence" to it and more true nostalgia. (BTW, I *don't* consider all you guys who buy everything "consumerists." That's just how I think in relation to *myself.*) Yo Joe! |

Like coola784 said. I'm getting out because I like the original ARAH stuff so much more. It just has more meaning to me. I will continue to pick up the new vehicles however.

Honestly, when they first came out, it was get everything cause I was trying to catch up. I started at wave 2 and there were so many different joes to get. As the waves started coming out, I got bored with wave 12 and 13. I thought one of those were internet only and I buy it. Couple of weeks later, they are sitting on the shelf at Target. I love the hunt. Finding something that just came out. I remember seeing the Black Headed Destro and thinking, somebody screwed up bad. Thought I had one of the few and 2 days later, I found 2 more. I will buy some of the movie figs, but I don't need "everything" anymore. Plus, I have no where to put it. Waves 1-11 are in star cases in plastic tubs at my brothers house. As well as comic packs, variants, vehicles and extras. Plus I love going to the flea market and getting ARAH figs for 2 bucks each and searching through boxes on end of joes.
