Posted this to the FB discussion groups and got some good responses. Thought I'd do the same here. Please read the criteria before blurting out your ideas though, put some serious thought into your builds.
Had a good private discussion with Jay, Andrew, and today Sam inspired by Joseph Jones FSS 4.0 speculation thread. What we talked about was possible builds for each figure given the Club's usual guidelines of no re-tooled body parts, only a certain number of new heads/helmets, pretty much no new secondaries (webgear and the like) and that all parts MUST fit together without any mods. Here is the list that we came up with. While there are a couple of "pie in the sky" choices there, for the most part it adheres very closely to those guidelines. Feel free to chime in with your thoughts, but if you want to propose a build keep in mind that this was intended to be really thought out, and not just throwing things out for the sake of speaking. If it's good stuff, I'll forward it to the right guys at the Club. Who knows? Barricade - Arctic Destro Body & upper arms, ROC Acc Suit legs & lower arms, Acc Suit helmet (providing the Club can dance the Hollywood copyright do-si-do) Billy (Cobra Commander’s son, adult version) - Paris Pursuit SE torso/Ren Duke/Ren TRat, Ren Duke arms, new head(?), vest (?), legs from Footloose (I wish) Bullhorn - Airborne head, Tomahawk headphones, Ult Duke torso & arms, Retal 3 pk Beach Head webgear, Lowlight sniper rifle and case, Resolute Duke legs Interrogator - CG Torso, re-tooled DTC Int head, Ult CC arms, ROC Destro legs Law & Order - Same as Renegade's build, less accs, classic colors Inferno B.A.T. - BATS in trans Red, with SW or other flame accs/weapon Nunchuk - New head or POC Temple SE Helmet, Retal Red Ninja torso/limbs, booted feet, armored forearms from one of the Ninjas Night Creeper (Ice Ninja) - Same as concept case build, 1998 Colors Pathfinder - Lifeline head, Muskrat boonie, 3 pk Firefly torso, stone upper arms, retal colton lower arms, machete(s), POC Duke wv 1 legs Jammer (Z-Force Communications) - Con Stalker, maybe diff webgear & weapons Tiger Force Sneak Peek (UK Repaint?, new scope) - Aireborne helmet (NO! VvV Backblast helmet instead!), Renegades COBRA Trooper webgear, Shocktrooper torso, Mouse arms, 25th Dusty legs Tiger Force Outback (UK Repaint?, new head) - Retal Colton torso, Recondo upper arms, Colton lower arms and hands, Footloose legs Pythona - new MU Female buck, new head (maybe BFS sculpts from NJCC preview?), soft goods cloak, possibly new bio acc Heartwrencher - Zarana torso and arms, Daina head, Ren TRat overalls and legs, Cross Country Wrench |

Nice. I hope for Jammer that they use the POC stalker/SE legs so you can see his boots. I really do not the ret Joe trooper legs. Stupid rocker ankles!

Seems like a lot of head re-use even though typically the club sculpts new heads across the board. That said, the reuse head for Pathfinder makes perfect sense and if that's what they go with- genius.

I'm pretty sure you've called it for Law and Order, Inferno BAT, Nunchuck, Night Creeper and Pathfinder (though pathfinder might get his weedwhacker like Muskrat got his boogie board).
Jammer is also almost garunteed to be the con stalker like you say. The other's I'm mostly not 100% in agreement with, but don't have specific improvements to suggest at this point, other than : Heartwrencher - Zarana torso and arms, Daina head, Ren TRat overalls and legs, Cross Country Wrench Tunnel Rat coverall legs? That's a very odd idea. One of Heartwrencher's defining characteristics were her fishnet stockings. Now admittedly, there aren't many smooth female legs that would lend themselves to that, but if you go back to 25th Scarlett, even though she doesn't have double jointed knees, she does have perfeectly smooth legs above the boots. I would argue to go with those legs (the knife in sheeth can be black) and paint the flesh-tone and fishnets onto them. Keeps the classic look of the character. I think sticking her in random baggy overalls that have never been associated with the character would drastically lower sales. |

Couple suggestions below:
Bullhorn - Airborne head, Tomahawk headphones, Ult Duke torso & arms, Retal 3 pk Beach Head webgear, Lowlight sniper rifle and case, Resolute Duke legs I really like Oreobuilder's Bullhorn recipe. I also detest those Ult Duke arms. Pathfinder - Lifeline head, Muskrat booniehat, 3 pk Firefly torso, stone upper arms, retal colton lower arms, machete(s), POC Duke wv 1 legs If the Club won't put the Hit n Run head on the Firefly torso, I doubt they'll put the lifeline head on that torso either. Not sure of a torso that can replace it, but in theory the Lifeline torso without the holster and pouches should work. Also, Pathfinder needs Gnawgahyde/Gnaw's hat to match his vintage figure's hat fold and shape. For accessory load-out, I think he needs at least some of his vintage gear. The weird weedwhacker thing is probably enough along with a Sci-Fi pack in gray. |

My custom Pathfinder uses the club TF Lifeline head. I love it. No painting. I just hate how I have to use a club exclusive figure's head though. Honestly, that Lifeline head is perfect for Pathfinder.

I love doing this. I wish I had all kinds of spare parts to swap around and see what is best. It's even better if you actually have the ear of someone at the club so that some of these ideas really get used. I think the club could have saved themselves some grief during last years's reveals if they would do this more often.
Overall I like your builds but I had a couple ideas to throw in. What about the Sci-Fi helmet for Barricade? Doesn't the accelerator suit helmet cover his whole face? A new helmet would be perfect but I know we can't always have that. I also really like Oreobuilder's Bullhorn like dasaffe mentioned. It uses some of the same parts, but I think has different legs and uses the retaliation cobra trooper webgear. I hope they use a different vest for Law this time, one that is open in front, instead of the Renegades law vest. Everything else is fine. Maybe the ROC pit commando vest? I don't think Nunchuk needs a new head or the POC Snake Eyes helmet. It could just be a Ret. Kamakura head with the Night Creeper head wrap to simulate the cloth piece like they did with Desert Scorpion. I would love to see the same webgear that Night Creeper Leader got in black even though there is probably more vintage accurate webgear out there. Whatever they do for this one, they can repaint it and pop a new head/helmet on to make Bushido later. The firefly torso is great, but it has that turtleneck collar, which I don't see working in the jungle for Pathfinder. Maybe the Kwinn torso would be better. And don't forget a vest, maybe the ROC Heavy Duty vest? |
