It was a toss up between Nocturnal Fire and Operation Bear Trap, but NF placed first on my list. Repeater and the SAW Vipers sealed the deal as I consider them really great ME versions of their respective characters.

1. Operation Bear Trap
2. Mission Brazil II 3. Nocturnal Fire 4. Crimson Strike 5/6 Tiger Force/Zombie I didn't care much for the Zombie set, but the figures were better done than the Tiger Force set and the figures were more essential than Tiger Force. Loved the Oktober Guard set and the MB II set. |

I don't have this set in my hand yet but I went ahead and ranked all 6 of the Joe Con modern are sets. this is my ranking on the 6 sets. 3rd place and 4th place could change once I get the new set in hand and see how the figures actually look.
1st Place = Nocturnal Fire 2nd Place = Operation Bear Trap 3rd Place = Mission Brazil 2 Set 4th place = Peril in Paradise new set 5th place = The Zombie Initiative 6th place = Crimson Strike Team Set

For me I ranked the Crimson set as low as i did based on the included figures. I love the Set when it was 1st released but the 12 vipers was too many. I am a troop builder but i tend to stop at like 5 or 6 or so. 12 of the same figure just limits how much i can love the set. I really like how the club has been doing it since with only 3 or so of the same character.

To the orginal or went a completely different way and made him closer to the DTC figure with the black on purple that pink was just to much. I mean this dude killed off like a handfull of my favorite joes he should have looked a bit more badass. Or maybe he just couldn't handle the laughter at his uniform.

Here's my list:
1. Bear Trap is tops for me. You got the OG and Voltar. I didn't like the other IG's but you can't beat the other figures. 2. Noc Fire: Not a big fan of the Frag (Dance) Vipers, but the Joe figures were great. 3. Brazil Set: I never got this one, but I still would like to get Claymore and Wetsuit. 4. Zombies: Didn't this set have the most new sculpts on it? I like TJ Bang, Eco-force and Toxo Zombies, but everything else was lazy. 5. TF/IG upcoming set. I like the IG's but really don't like repaints of figures we have gotten before. At least the NF set were figures we hadn't received before. 6. Crimson Set was great when I got it, but basically it's 3 figures, with only one (Viper) that had any new sculpting (I think).

For me it's;
#1: Nocturnal Fire, set gave us so many ARAH Joes we were missing. Frag-Vipers being a big one, closely followed by the v1 repaints of the NF Joes from the set. #2: Operation Bear Trap. Oktober Guard says it all. #3: Mission Brazil II. Python Patrol, and the MB Joes. Solid set. Only thing keeping it from being higher is that some of the figures haven't aged well. #4: Zombie Initiative, another set that gave us some classic ARAH Joes and some new stuff too. The Toxo-Vipers and Eco Warriors are a high light of the set for me. If only they had made the correct helmet for Flint...but still it's good and glad to have it. #5: Crimson Strike Team, I actually liked this set and regret now that I had to sell it. I think the only mistake the club made was too many Vipers. Had they mixed the set up a bit more with some Joes or just some different Crimson figures I think more people would of liked it better. But I loved the Vipers, still have four of them and someday I'll get that set back. #6: Peril in Paradise, It has a few figures that redeems it. But more still that bring it down. Big Brawler, the parts selection for the Undertows (hate those legs, don't look like a wet-suit at all), too many 2000s Tiger Force Joes and not enough classic ARAH TF Joes that so many have wanted. Recondo, Lifeline, General Mayhem are the stars of the set. The new heads for Stalker and Metal-Head are excellent but the bodies for both figures are lack luster. Poor parts choices and incase of Stalker bad paint apps, ruined what could of been excellent figures. |

My list:
1: Zombie Initiative. I'm not sure the Club will EVER top this one for me, and they get a lifelong "pass" because of it. Eco-Warriors were a special childhood favorite, and the Club did a FANTASTIC job of updating the figures for the ME. T'Jbang and SB Commander don't fit the "theme," but they're still nicely-done ME vintage hole-fillers. Outback is the only loser in the set for me. 2: Operation: Bear Trap. I loved getting most of the original OG in one box, and they were all well done. I'm an IG fan and thought the club did a better-than-expected version of Voltar, and I didn't mind adding some arctic IGs to my ranks. The attendee Darklon was killer, too! 3: Nocturnal Fire. I like this one overall, but it falls quite a ways behind the first two for me. I was grateful that this set filled in so many ARAH holes (and most of them were very well done), but I have no real attachment to the NF sub-team (I remember them being on the pegs at TRU, but never had any of them), and actually prefer the FSS versions of the characters. I really love the "build" of the Saw Vipers (actually think it improves on the vintage design), but they're SO damn pink! For me, the SE buck just doesn't work for the Frag Vipers (too bad, as they were among my favorite Cobras as a kid). Mortal and Crimson Asp are nice. 4: Mission Brazil II. I missed the boat on this one, and had to resort to eBay to buy the figs individually. I never completed the set, and probably never will since it's value has climbed so high. I love Claymore and Cobra De Aco, the Brazil repaints were all well done, and it was a good idea to round out the PP repaints that Hasbro never got to, but the molds used REALLY haven't aged well. 5: Peril in Paradise. The jury's still out on this one (reserving judgement until I have it in-hand). I don't hate it as much as some of you, but it does feel half-assed compared to the three sets that preceded it. Metal Head, Gen Mayhem and the Anvils look good, but the Club really dropped the ball with Undertow (should've used the Chief Torpedo chest-mounted air tank and they REALLY needed a new BFS-sculpted mask; the details on the vintage recast are SO soft). Wreckage and Lifeline look great, as does Stalker's new head, but the rest just aren't doing it for me. 6: Crimson Strike Team. I willingly passed this one up. I really don't like having ANYTHING Crimson beyond the Siegies themselves; makes them less unique as a unit. Crimson Baroness and Vipers? No, thank you. |
