I stopped by TRU today just to see if anything new had shown up, when I saw an awesome display case for Call of Duty.
The playsets are great as well as the figures have character, which is IMO much better than that cartoon characters figures we got with Kre-O. With some of the playsets I've seen with COD, it's not hard to visualize a Pit or Flagg. I know myself I would brought them up in an instant. I have not brought one Kre - O figure or set , just was not impressed. Just curious to what you guys think. |

I couldn't care less. But I'm not buying Kreo or 12" or the eventual 6". I'm too invested in 4". I'm not gonna switch scales so enjoy your microforce, bobble heads, stickfas, mighty mug, sideshow, hot toys, Kreos, pop vinals, and blind box whatever's, let me know when the 51st or poc2 or whatever 4" line comes out.
Don't even bother if it's a 2.5" like avengers 2 and guardians. I would have bought that Avenger tower playset in 4" scale. |

You are missing out if you have not bought Kre-os and are a fan of the 80's Joes & Cobras.
You can stick with one scale only but at the end of the day you could find yourself with no new products - I hope not but look at the amount we had in 2014 for the 50th ANN. it was like Hasbro did it as an after thought minus the Cobra WOLF. Everything else was in the works or done already.

I have bought a few of the COD sets. The tank makes a great MOBAT for the kreo guys. Most of the builds look neat and I want that hovercraft, but I am not impressed with the COD guys for the same reason I don't like the modern era Joes...to many little bits and pieces. Knives, guns, silencers, scopes, grenades radios, etc. Too much kibble all over easily lost and not particularly playable for youngsters.
Conversely Kreo is very simplified and is very playable for children, but the vehicle builds in the first group of sets were very uninspired mostly copying the Battleship sets. The second wave of sets are great. Another good feature of the kreo sets is they ALL had both good and bad guys included in each set. Ultimately Kreo is aimed at a younger age group while COD targets the older market. I vastly prefer kreo to COD and have only bought the COD stuff on clearance to add to the kre-o, but I also greatly prefer the o-ring joes to the Modern era so i obviously prefer a more simplistic design aesthetic in my collectibles. The kreo guys also got most of the figures from the first five to six years out in brick figure form so my hats off to them for that as well as the trouble bubble, terror drome, wolverine and HISS true bright spots of vehicle design. If Megabloks should get the Joe license? Sign me up, but given the choice I prefer the kreo characters with COD vehicles. I wouldn't tell anyone they were wrong for liking or disliking either brand for whatever reason |

Of all of the boats Hasbro has missed concerning GI Joe.......this is definitely the smallest.

I'm all about the Kre-o. I couldn't be happier with the figures. The vehicles might not be all that, but the figures are awesome.

I think Hasbro missed the boat, by not having any media to support the line.. I love the Kreo figures.. and only collect 4", but having been a long time collector of lego and there not being many kreo sets or figures... it was an easy item to tide me over and I could build bigger playsets with all the lego sets I have. As for and other size.. I had a 12" collection, but sold them off. Never picked up Sigma 2.5 or normal size figures. I have been loyal to the size I grew up with.
even now.. I find that I have out grown my toy room and recently listed the majority of my vintage collection. All are from my childhood, bought and paid by me, removed from package by me.. and lost accessories.. by me. Lol It's that type of connection that Hasbro needs to figure out how to re-establish with todays generation. What ever happened to toy commercials?

Basically: The cost was determined to not be compensated by the projected gains from broadcasting the commercials. If that wasn't the case, they'd still be showing them often. That seems to be a point that many folks miss in that discussion. Contrary to popular belief, the folks that run Hasbro are not idiots. If they could massively boost sales to a point that the profits would outweigh the production and airtime costs of a commercial by a wide enough margin, they'd do it. They don't, which means they probably don't think it's worth the time, effort, and expenditure (commercials aren't free). Nevermind that many kids watch their programming now via streaming services so commercials are limited to nonexistent. Last edited by Jmacq1; 01-25-2015 at 02:42 AM.. |
