Size and space are always an issue with collectors, as well as kids (at least the ones I know) taking their toys with them wherever they go.
HALO as been going strong with the Mega Bloks line and the figures aren't blocky at all, they look beefy but that's about it and have limited articulation but still they are fun and cool to build the vehicles--which can get pretty big in size. What if GI JOE went this route? Granted the SIGMA SIX line made a great attempt at it and GI JOE did combine with TONKA for a build your own Joe vehicle but with a regular sized 3 3/4 figure. What if we went the route of Mega Bloks and, heaven help me, Shrink the size again to make it affordable as well as allow for a variety of figures and vehicles and possibly some BUILD A SETS that can interconnect. GI JOE will never see the glory again that it had in the 80s and subsequent years beyond. Its getting pricey just to buy a regular figure now and frankly, some of the figures can just stay where they are for that price. Its almost 16-20$ for a figure, for that price I can buy a Lego or MBlk set that includes 2 figures and a vehicle. Can you imagine buying a skystriker or wolverine with two figures to go with it along with weapons and accessories. Kre-O has done an interesting job, but its not quite as complex as LEGO or Mega Bloks. Some of the HALO stuff is just absolute win. Granted the LEGO figures lack a lot of articulation but the advantage in head and body part swaps is a win, not to mention easy to customize bodies with just stickers. I don't want to see GI JOE go the way of the Dodo. Hasbro isn't even trying that hard to keep the line alive and I do agree that its just not that popular. But what if Hasbro changed tactics and made a line that would incorporate MARVEL, SW, GI JOE and Transformers with the 2 inch scale and interchageability of pieces as well as parts. The 2 inch minimate offers a blocky like figure but loads of articulation that would satisfy almost any critic. Look at the figures that are sold in the two packs--the figures have loads of detail and still look really cool. Art Asylum, when they had the DC license, tried doing the C3 line, again, a great try, but just not quite up there when it came to the brick builds. I really think there is potential here as well as being able to compete with the likes of LEGO STAR WARS, Hasbro could make their own LEGO-brick compatible, or at least bring up the quality of the Kre-O and start taking pages out of LEGOs playbook. For instance, the new GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY line offers a variety of characters as well as a good sized vehicle--the MILANO and its still easy enough to fit on a shelf or take with you. The QUINJET from the LEGO SUPERHEROES line is just amazing, its big and it fits in well with the minifig scale. Its way better than the Hasbro version. I don't want to see the line die without a fight. The Kre-O sets look passable, but rarely anything I would want to buy. Ive seen better builds on brickshelf.com when it comes to jets and other vehicles. Hasbro should step up their game and prove its a contender. By combining 2 inch minimates and bricks, I think it would be a major win. Mega Bloks has done some absolutely amazing things with HALO--especially the PELICAN 2.0, that is a set I have to have. Its compatible with the small warthog and its just a kickass set that any kid, gamer/fan would want. Hasbro, you can do this. |

I would LOVE to see a revitalization of the MASK line, and I think it would be cool to see a GI Joe - MASK crossover in a 2" scale. I would support it. Now, to be clear, I prefer the 4" scale and above -- I love the detail and interchangeable accessories. But I would support a 2" line, especially if it is an ancillary line and not the main line.

Brick-building is practically universal. I understand that the Kre-Os are Hasbro's attempt at breaking into Bricks. I guess Im just not that impressed with the builds, they look so basic that I might as well get the BEST-LOC brand, but even their stuff looks more advanced. Part of me wishes that they would just include the minimates in there due to the great articulation and they just look cooler.
For those of you that have Kre-Os, what do you like about them, what do you hate about them? I do like the fact that HASBRO included even movie lines like STAR TREK and BATTLESHIP, some nice crossover stuff. Battleship was tempting with the large ship but still not enough to sway me. I did buy the KRE-O trek shuttlecraft, it was okay, but I thought it could have been better and regular Lego pieces had to be used to improve upon it. I guess when it comes down to it, I want Hasbro to give GI JOE some polish and some love. |

With all the licenses under Hasbro's belt, almost anything could be done. If they would do a classic and new BSG line, I would be totally in.
CLASSIC VIPER VIPER MK II VIPER MK VII RAPTOR RAPTOR W/MISSILE BOXES GAL 356 SHUTTLE W/ COLONIAL VEHICLE (TANK LIKE TRANSPORT) kevblev makes some incredible ships-check him out on brickshelf.com or check ebay for lego galactica customs. |

It is an absolute no for me. Why? I think the 4 inch size is not too big for the vehicles, and large enough for great detail. Besides downsizing my beloved Gi Joe vs Cobra toys should be consider a sacrilege. (I am sure the 12 inch collectors felt the same way in 1982).

I hear you Outlaw, I just wish Hasbro would take more interest in GI JOE, the six inch line is starting to gain traction, especially with SW black box figures, they look pretty amazing, but at 20$ a pop, they should be.

The only 2 inch line to ever have great success was MASK, and that was all about the vehicles not figures. If you are going to go that small, you might as well go with Lego/Kre-o/Mega Bloks.

F. That. I would be out. I do agree that the 4in scale is perfect for articulation while still maintaining a small enough size to carry a line of suitable vehicles. I have wanted 6in scale figures since hasbro acquired the rights to the marvel legends line. Cmon Marvel legends Gi joe it just works!
