The other day I was organizing my collection and I could have sworn I bought a Cobra Eel, but I couldn't find it in my closet. Normally, I'll buy stuff and put in the closet until I can find the time to unpack and either put it on display or in a storage container to save space.
Well, I had decided that I was mistaken, and I told myself that I will pick up an Eel the next time I come across one. Wouldn't you know it, I found it by accident in my gym bag I used the last time I went out of town which is when I got it. It just bothers me that I completely forgot I left it in there, and I was already telling myself to pick another one up. I typically only get one of each due to budget constraints. I'm not looking to get every figure, just the ones that interest me. I just never thought I was at the level of collecting that I needed to keep a checklist as I figured I don't really buy all that many figures. Do most of you "power" collectors keep checklists? What is your preferred way of keeping track of what you got and need to get? |

I troup build an should probably keep a list of some of the stuff I buy, that is how i ended up with 15 vipers and 28 BATS. I just got the BATs whenever I saw them. But I do pick up everyfigure, and sometimes it is hard to remember, but yeah I've found hidden treasures before. I've forgotten that I ordered something at HTS and gotten in the mail before too. But a check list means the wife knows what I'm spending. So in my case, evidence is bad. LOL.

Yep! Once I bought one of the later Snake-Eyes (The one with the red goggles) I hate this figure but I was trying to get all the vintage ones so I figured I should buy it....unfortunately I get home and realise I already had him!!!

About 2-3 months ago I bought a MIB Brawler (the Hammer repaint) and completely forgot about it. Last weekend I was sorting out some stuff (my Joes and other collectibles) and I realized I did not see the Brawler. I accounted for all my Joe vehicles and play sets except for the Brawler. I am pretty upset about it and I'm going to try looking harder this weekend.

Happens to me all the time. I have severals of each characters already released and will soon add the extras I have in my sell/trade list. Hate it when that happens.

Happens to me with comics. I buy and read so fast I fly right by the cover and I either forget the cover, so when I see it at another comic shop I'm like "did I get this one yet?" or I've seen the cover MONTHS in advance due to previews and such and I assume it's new even when it isn't.
