There's actually two hiatuses here: the original hiatus when the movie was pushed back (although that was labeled a "postponement", IIRC) and the current hiatus. I was talking about this current hiatus.

To Say that a toy line that has had product on the shelf for 30 years is a bomb is a really big stretch. By the same standard Star Wars is a much bigger failure. What he is saying, is that we really have no information on what the markup or sales figures were on the Sky Striker or Eagle Hawk, we don't even know how many are out there still, or if Toys R Us posted a profit or loss on these. Just because we still see them around, that doesn't equal commercial failure. We have no information to draw a reasonable conclusion. In fact your own post in response to his backs this up. If those same retailers then decline to carry that product line moving forward, it didn't sell well." Its two months after Christmas, and we still see The Eagle Hawk. They aren't even on clearance yet, or sent to Ross and Tj Max. Toys R Us still has them listed at $42.99. I guarantee You if they had as deep of discounts as some of the figures they wouldn't last a week and a lot of folks on this forum would call in sick to work tomorrow because they had an air battle to fight. Have you ever had the joy of the old brittle plastic on some of those classics? There are some advantages to "new" and it sure beats the alternative, nothing.

I'll bet the shipping alone is a killer for you guys. Over here it is slim pickings you still see a few figures here and there, but a lot of people have resorted to more nontraditional outlets, like Grocery stores and pharmacys trying to find the later waves.

You guys ever get tired of defending toys?
It really is not this deep yall. They came with new stuff which is awesome. If you dont like it dont buy its simple. At least they are coming out with something. I dont think it is that bad. I am going to grab it all and throw the ones I already have in the fodder bin. You know those people that dont like it will be the first at tru to get it. Hell im gonna get the lowlight 2pack and then burn the single carded one I have and post the video of it on you tube and post it here then I am going to burn my single carded night vipers. Then I am going to paint that red one a nice shade of green and sell it on ebay or trade it for water from the fountain of youth.

I've had a lot of thoughts about this the last few days, so sorry about the large multiquote.

This is a hit-and-miss selection for me.
Way too many recycled figures for my taste. At least do something a little different with them. BUT the vehicles are universally great. And many of the "concept vault" figures that are finally showing up are awesome. So they did a pretty decent job, but not nearly as good as they could have. I agree that Snow Job and Blowtorch are not the best choices from a selection standpoint and I personally have passed on the POC Blowtorch several times at retail. However, I have a Question for those who pay attension to mold components; do POC SnowJob and BlowTorch have a lot of parts in common with past figures or things from last year's concept case? I am guessing that they do not and I also guess that this is important in understanding why they were included in this release. I think it's highly likely that the third Film doesn't debut until early 2016 at the beginning of the "summer blockbuster season" which strangely enough usually begins in March -the same time space where Retaliation was pushed back to. That leaves an extended period of time to fill up with another line before the GI Joe 3 retail push. I think what we've seen is only a portion of what Hasbro has tenative plans for between now and then. It may be that SnowJob and Blowtorch are simply just filler that were produced because their manufacture wouldn't create any great constraints with production of other figures. It is my unexpert belief that between then and now we are going to see a lot more of theconcept case. I think it also noteworthy that the Flint that scored #1 in the GeneralJoes Concept Case poll isn't going to be a hard exclusive and should in fact be easy to given the clarification findJustin Bell has recieved on that figure/vehicle combo. I think hasbro is actually listening to us Yay! It shouldn't be forgotten that most if not all the regulars here that are counted amongst the retail intelligencia advised us to not to get our hopes up that Hasbro was planning any GI Joe product at all. I am gratefull for what we have and plan to buy it at retail if I can. Quote:
I can see why Hasbro is releasing Lowlight in his original paint apps, cause his price seems to have sky rocketed on Ebay, maybe they thought, lets give fans who couldn't get him another chance at a regular price tag. The same with that 5 pack Baroness, she is also difficult to get.
Quote:
Same rumblings that many of us heard; This thought process was based on the fact that so many "Fans" were upset by the fact that they were unable to obtain certain characters (i.e. - Low-Light) and the secondary market was ridiculous.
Alas, no good deed goes unpunished. I know there are still people on this forum that want Low Light and cannot justify the cost. I am happy for them and hope it comes with his complete accessory compliment (though I doubt it) Quote:
And yes please, A Conquest release along with a EuroCanard styled brand new Cobra jet would be great. Quote:

The Club offering 12 inch dolls, in my opinion, is as good as anyone can expect now-a-days. I'm not sure why all of the sudden everyone here has a soft spot for 12 inch dolls, other than an excuse to bitch about something.
Will I be upset if they only make Kre-o figures when the ARAH line reaches 50 years? I'll be 61 years old and I hope I wouldn't care. Yes, and it set back the toyline by quite a bit, I gather. The fact that there hasn't been a GI Joe development team is probably due to the fact that the work is done and a product roadmap has been laid out until GI Joe 3.

They could have easily re-released these vehicles instead of the Wolf, slapped some Cobra stickers on them and just called them the Ice Wolf or something...
But to get the original... that's pretty cool.
