Being in the military I'm getting a bit tired of war, what would you guys think if Hasbro released a 3 3/4 modern adventure team? I think it would be awesome. They could focus on cool adventures instead of never ending battles. I still love Joes but I'm just getting a little burnt out on war.

The GI Joe club made four very sweet sets.
GIJOECLUB.COM - The Official G.I. Joe Collectors' Club! I would love to see Hasbro pick up the ball and run with it from there.

Yeah, I got the sets. I was thinking about Hasbro doing them with POC type detailing.

I would support that- ditch the whole Joe/Cobra thing and go straight up Adventure-team for a while. Fight some 3rd world dictators maybe- explore the ocean, track down monster sightings... The Adventure Team can really be about anything- so sure- bring on the A-team... er....

I never really thougt of Gi Joe as a "war" group of guys/toys, they dealt with Cobra, they were a specialized mission force. They never killed anyone. They went on cool adventures all the time. I think thats the thing a lot want to much of Joe to mirror todays modern warrior on the battle filed and be war homages/replicas, echoes of battlefield 3-4 or call of duty. Joe really wasn't ever about that, it was sci fi military "themed", but also a lot more. It even had public service announcements because they knew kids made connections with their favorite characters and if they gave a good message they might actually listen to it. And above all Gi Joe was about america's special mission force, ole red white and blue was flying on the screen and they fought against a foe greater then just your local pissed off foreign country, it was a united force of evil bent on taking over and subjugating the world.
least thats the way I saw it lol... I think they could spin the adventure team as a private contractor kinda mentality, joes use them as civilian experts/advisors on missions and could work well. However...you gotta nix the 70s fuz heads...sorry... ;)

That would be great. Until Hasbro turns it into a bunch on ninjas exploring the ocean.

Yeah, they would definitely need to back off the ninja stuff.

I've wanted this for a long time. Hasbro GI Joe-quality police, fireman, astronaut 1:18 toys. Mix in some exploration-level. Maybe even time-travel to go to other historical eras, including dinosaurs, and you have a really cool toyline.
I don't even think they need media to support it and make it a hit. I those themes are evergreen. Kids always want police, fireman, astronaut, and dinosaur stuff. Hasbro can tell a story with the toyline itself. |
