Like so many people I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of Retaliation wave 3.5. Unlike most, I'm waiting to find them in store (spare me the lecture; if I find them great, if I don't then I don't. I know the risk, but I don't do credit cards.)
Some of the figures have disappointed me with their in-hand samples. Budo, for example; I would have bought one just for the excellent Ken Watanabe-esque head sculpt that the pre-prod figure sported. The production figure's "never trust a fart" grimace of worry leaves me without the desire to own one. The Combra Combat Ninja, however, is one that I'm still on the fence over. The camo is movie-accurate, but I didn't like it in the film and I don't particularly like it on the figure. I have around 30 PoC/ 30th Cobra Troopers and 11 Shock Troopers. My idea was to combine the CCN's head and helmet, Shock Trooper's vest and PoC Trooper's body to make my "ultimate" Cobra Trooper. This is a pretty wasteful proposition, however, and I'm beginning to have second thoughts on whether it's worth it to drop ~$150 to have 10 or 11 of these guys. Any chance the helmet will be rereleased with another figure? Or that one of the casting guys will get his hands on it? Thoughts? |

The movie helmet (the open faced) won't be (tied to the film and all that), the MGS mono-sensor one?
Maybe, but we've seen a LOT from the last few years that hasn't seen a second release, despite many opportunities.

I don't know just how available these will be in retail, but certainly not to push 10 plus or more if you're relying solely on retail business. I don't run on credit cards either but did use my debit card to purchase my share of CCN and Ultimate Duke figures. Got 4 for now, but I might splurge and buy a buttload of them.

Yeah, it's a good point. I've been thinking of the leftover parts and come up with a plan:
PoC Trooper body + Shock vest + CCN head and helmet = "Elite" Cobra Troopers. CCN body & vest + Shock Trooper balaclava head & helmet = "Arctic" Cobra Troopers. Shock Trooper body + PoC straps + CCN alternate head = "Night Ops" Cobra Troopers. So it seems like I'll have a use for everything, I may as well grab the CCNs when I see them! |

My issue with credit cards is about not owing anyone any money and not living outside my means. Although my means have recently grown (new job & all) I still don't like the idea. |

You use your debit card for PayPal? Hmm... interesting thought, I didn't realize you could do that.

Paypal also (used to anyway) has a debit card that pulls funds from your Paypal balance, but more and more vendors are accepting Paypal, even brick and mortar stores like Home Depot are getting on the Paypal payment method. However I'm sure as they become more available, casters will make a cast of that helmet so you won't need to buy so many figures.

back on topic, yes I think they will eventually reuse all the parts we just never know when this will happen but I am confident a castor will make copies
