Well, I got tired of waiting for my new Wave 3.5 figures to arrive from Nerdragetoys, so I broke down and bought several on E-Bay. Storm Shadow is amazing, and the rocker style ankles work well on him; and I don't mind when they use this style of ankle articulation on Ninja/Martial Arts characters. Then I got to Cobra Commander. I love this figure from both heads to his uh... ankles. You see I can't say to his feet, because the rocker ankle just does not work well on him. It seems he always has a tendency for his feet to point inward; especially the right foot. It does not look horrible, but it just looks a bit off. It reminds me of those poor kids that have to wear metal braces on their legs. Like Forrest Gump. I look at the new CC and keep saying, "Run Cobra Commander run"! Yeah I know it is wrong. This CC could easily have been the best version ever, and is still an awesome figure. But this really keeps him from scoring a perfect 10 imho. I really hope Hasbro stops making the rocker style ankles and goes back to the standard swivel/pivot articulation. So...
How does everyone like the rocker ankles? Love them or hate them? |

I hate them and I think they're overrated.

I think they're overhated. Just give him a dramatic pose where his feet don't have to be together and he's fine.

Hit and miss for me. Like most have said on the ninjas, they're cool for posing. But for most modern figures it's just awful. Not to mention the disposition of the foot-hole. There's has got to be some serious dyslexia going on at the front end, no offense to dyslexic people. Doesn't matter, I'm at the point that I'm only going for a few of my preferred favorites, and I'm out the game. Can't hang with the inconsistencies of Hasbro figure making anymore. As long as they drop the Destro/Gung Ho/Stormy concept figures even with the rockers, I'm good. Kind of went off topic, sorry about that.

I hate, hate, HATE the rocker ankles. They look awkward and they pose horribly for anything other than a dynamic martial arts stance. They are a huge step backwards in my opinion.

I agree completely, when I first saw the cc from the concept case I thought it was a great opportunity to have some regular pants style legs, but the rocker ankle throws that away. I am not a fan of rocker ankles at all. They look fine on the retaliation joe trooper but I am just not a fan. Very seldom would I want to have a figure do a split. But to turn the foot left and right is way more appropriate.

I didn't like rockers at first either, but they are more accurate to the way feet work.

I like them, the only draw back is they don't work well on stands.

c'mon, man, 'haters gonna hate' is a non argument. while personal preference is ultimately the issue, the anti rocker ankle side has legitimate points- poor fit on the stand pegs, looseness, less stability without stands, etc. i prefer the standard 25th/ m.e. ankles by a mile, but it's got nothing to do with 'hating'.
