Hola, tankers. Here's a thread dedicated to the men who put themselves in harm's way every day. These are men who have given their lives in the name of... snakes and stuff.
Vipers: YOJOE.COM | Viper Ah, the core of Cobra forces. Infantry soldiers, the best Cobra had to offer. This is where the cobra infantryman begins his career. I always thought of the Vipers as Cobra Troopers who had advanced in training to a certain point in their career, like expert infantrymen- whilst Cobra troopers were still learning the ropes. My Analysis- what the hell are those goggles for? One can only assume that the "Core" Cobra infantry soldier is, indeed "not smart". Tele- Vipers: YOJOE.COM | Tele-Viper Cobra knows communication is vital, and thus- the Tele-Viper. Given advanced communications equipment and combat training, he is an undeniable vital element in the Cobra ranks. My Analysis- They stand out like a turd in a punchbowl, which is something no field radio/comm guy wants to do. Also, the eyegoggles have a HUD that reads certain communication message traffic- in other words: "Yes, you do have 'stupid' written on your forehead". Techno-Vipers:YOJOE.COM | Techno-Viper Cobra needs technicians, just like the US military, and each of these technicians is a trained infantryman that can hold his own. My Analysis- I don't know what scares me more: Cobra actually training people to fix their broke-ass gear; or the image that "Techno-Viper" conjures- an extacy popping guy in a mask dancing, offering massages, and sweating everywhere. Hydro-VipersYOJOE.COM | Hydro-Viper Advanced Cobra Eels that have been surgically augmented, thus making them more dangerous than anything in the water. My Analysis- You know, I like the idea behind the creation of one of these, but I guarantee this- I'd give a paycheck to jump out of Lake Havasu dressed like this during spring break. Toxo-VipersYOJOE.COM | Toxo-Viper These are Cobra's HAZMAT/CBRN troops, but are more devoted to implementing the dangers rather than protecting themselves from it. My Analysis- It would take a 4th grader about 10 minutes of research to learn that personnel discharging Chemical weapons is a bad idea. Also, if any Cobra trooper gave me a reason to have to climb in the JSLIST (NBC Suit) and sweat my ass off- I'm sure I'd torture him with whatever undergarment I was wearing that same day when I got him to GITMO. Alley-Viper YOJOE.COM | Alley Viper Any soldier knows that the urban environment requires specific training, and Cobra fields their own Urban Combat Specialists. My Analysis- Probably the most badass costume, ever... at least the 1st edition. But seriously, if you're going to attack me in an Urban Environment- please have enough sense to wear some colors that make you less visible that a blazing house full of sparklers. Frag-Viper YOJOE.COM | Frag-Viper Cobra uses these troops to lob grenades without making any noise whatsoever, and bases their "lobber" cesta on the Jai Alai throwing device. My Analysis- Jai Alai? Are you serious? This is a joke, right? HEAT-Viper YOJOE.COM | H.E.A.T. Viper Cobra's anti-tank specialists, with advanced targeting gear. My Analysis- If there is on thing you could never convince me to be, it's a guy with a yellow suit that can only see out of one eye with explosive rockets on his ankles- shooting at tanks. Range-Vipers YOJOE.COM | Filecard Gallery - Range Viper These are Cobra's wilderness troopers, diehard survivors that can sustain themselves without a resupply for a long time. My Analysis- You've got to admit, if one of these rolled up on you in the woods, you'd crap your cammies. But seriously, just look for anything fitting the description of "blue" and you'll do fine. More to come, guys. |

I've never understood the Viper filecard. It's pretty obvious that the Vipers are a step up from normal troopers. I treat Vipers as Ranger-equivalents.

OG vipers are just awesome, such a sweet and simple design. The only Cobras I really troop build. I know I will get sh!t for this but I don't like the new chrome face ones with the "fixed" arms. Imo the new sculpt of the face sheild sucks, too pointy.

treating them as Rangers would mean they aren't Infantry soldiers but highly trained Special Forces types, the best of the best, comparable to Eels. |

They're gear is so much better then what a normal Trooper has.
So a Viper is the lowest and graduates to a Trooper and gives up their armor and better gear? Naw, just don't see it.. Eels are equivalent to SEaLs, Vipers are Rangers and so on..

I'm with you. I can't stand the chrome face.

I see the Vipers more as Cobra rookies. To me the specialized gear is there to protect the inexperianced soldier, who isn't as smart as a regular Blueshirt.

If I was a Viper, I'd never want to become a Blueshirt.
Give up my body armor, machine gun w/ grenade launcher for no body armor and a dragonov sniper rifle? They don't necessarily have to be Special Forces, I just make 'em that way. But I just can't see them as being lesser then the Troopers.

yeah, that always seemed weird to me too ~ i sort of thought of the Vipers as a different "Branch" then the regular Cobra Troopers ~ Like the Blueshirts were Army and the Vipers Marines ~ i think that idea came from them being on opposing sides during the Cobra Civil War in the comics.
