Just a recap on the 25th figures, so far they have done a great job, but...
1982 - all the big names (Snake Eyes, Scarlett, Stalker, CC, Hawk, rock & Roll, etc.) got accurate figures, plus when it is done, we will have all 13 originals and 2 army builders, great year. 1983 - again, all the big names (Gung Ho, Destro, Doc, Major Bludd.) The only notable omission is Cover girl. Very good job on the 1983 figures 1984 - All the big names (Zartan, Storm Shadow, Baroness, Firefly, Duke, Roadblock) With the 7 packs on the way, we get Recondo and Ripcord. Even thunder with the movie line. Very good year. 1985 - Snake Eyes, Flint, Lady Jaye, the Dreadnoks, the Twins, CG's, Snow Serpents, EEL's, Shipwreck, Dusty, pretty much every thing from maybe the best year of the original line. The only real omissions - Airtight and Footloose. Four years down, and the only legit missing figures are Airtight, Footloose, and Covergirl. Great job so far, but then... 1986 - Beachead, Mainframe, and... a bunch of C-list pilots. No Lifeline. No Dial-Tone. No Low-Light. No Zandar, Zarana, Monkeywrench, or Thrasher. And even Leatherneck was not in his regular attire. Granted, Slipstream and Lift-Ticket are alright drivers, Wet-Suit and Mindbender are on the way, and we got two army builders (Vipers and B.A.T.'s). So for 1986, we got two of the best characters, two army-builders, but that was about it. This is the year that the modern line missed the mark. 1987 - five worth-while characters, and we get four of them (Falcon, Tunnel-Rat, Outback, and Chuckles) All we need now is Jinx, and the best of the movie year gives a decent bounce-back from the void of 1986. anything after 1987 (Shockwave, Hit & Run, and the army builders) is just gravy on top of an already great line. Just wish they would have made a few more of the best from 1986, instead of the mediocre. |

I would agree that I think Hasbro kind of missed the boat with 1986. They really concentrated a lot of energy on Season 1 of the Sunbow cartoon with Barbecue, Bazooka, Alpine, etc... but kind of looked beyond Season 2. A lot of folks would have loved to have seen a Lifeline, Low Light, Leatherneck, etc... I really don't know why we didn't get more focus on that series.

I would have like to see more from 89, because I loved those flip up masks like Ally-Vipers,Night-Vipers, and T.A.R.G.A.Ts.

I think some of the vehicle drivers from pre-86 are notable omissions too, most notably Frostbite, less notably Heavy Metal ....and c'mon, whose collection is complete without Tollbooth?

Low-Light, Lifeline, Dial-Tone, a better Falcon, a legit Leatherneck, Footloose (or a toned down Sci-Fi) and Repeater vs. Zandar, Zarana, Monkeywrench, Night Viper, HEAT Viper, a legit Tele-Viper and Techno-Viper I get those, I'm satisfied. They could do a few more vehicles too if they'd like... There are your marching orders, Hasbro. Now get to it! |

Toning down Sci-Fi would be a crime against humanity.

Oh and I agree with Headman, toning down Sci Fi would be bad. He's supposed to be neon green and silver with that cool helmet and huge, compensating gun. So release him that way please. |
