Thanks for checking out my post, and if I posted in the wrong place, sorry mods.
I just got some duplicates of the Retaliation line so I hadn't thought of this before. The Alley Viper is a remake of an original and a classification of Cobra trooper like the Data Viper or Cobra Eel. The new package bio doesn't explain that "he" is not an individual character like Destro or Zartan, but the original states the Alley Viper is a classification of a Cobra trooper. The Dark Ninja is also describes as "he" on the card bio. I'm guessing that it is also a classification on the Ninja ranks just like the Red Ninja is not an individual like Storm Shadow (I'm guessing like the Martial Arts have belts to determine rank, so do the Ninjas). Am I wrong? So is the Cyber Ninja an individual character like Firefly, or a classification (troop builder figure)? Do I need to stock up on him to have several troopers? Again the card bio is no help. Even yojoe.com doesn't seem to have him pictured. Any light that can be shed on the subject and "proof" would be appreciated. |

While I believe that the Data Viper is a trooper, one of many, the fact that it doesn't say so one way or the other on his file card should not deter you. He's a troop builder if YOU say he is.
For example, the PoC Firefly was an excellent design and came with a very original wedge-shaped helmet. I decided that this was in fact a new Cobra special operations trooper and not Firefly and bought three of them.

I troop build them, I've also army built beacheads and fireflys. If the figure is cool and has a mask, then I get multiples.

He is whatever one wants him to be. With the current retail helmet, I see him more as a trooper.
I wish he had come with the Wraith helmet, THEN I could see him as a solid Wraith update.

Yeh I see him as a trooper - think of him as a COBRA version of the Cyber Initiative-Lin Kuei

if you recall, Jinx had a suite just like the cyber ninja has, on the renegades show. I think (on the show) it was a one-of-a-kind thing. but, more so because it could be viewed as a prototype. I think that the "cyber ninja" is not only one guy but maybe a sub group. not a "rank" I think of it like this: as snake armour is to any cobra trooper, so is, cyber ninja (gear) to any Ninja. but, they will need training to know how to use it.

I would think a squad of them would be like those foot tech ninjas from the Ninja turtles cartoons.

Like everything else on here, do what makes you happy!
For me, they are troops. They are a small squad testing out the "invisible stealth" suit. Due to it's outrageous cost, Cobra Commander has only authorized five prototypes be made and tested. This is my five man cyber ninja squad |
