they tried to copy that look but the talent that worked on ROC can not be duplicated, and I don't think anyone ever will...I am not trying to be pompous but we had the best team of artists ever assembled to build that line and look for ROC and I am so proud that I was a part of it!!
Also, "Mission Tech"? GI Joe related?

Interesting to see the Steel Brigade art from an apparently cancelled TRU 5-pack. Also funny to see that the IGs from the 2012 con set were ALSO going to be a TRU 5-pack. Wonder if Hasbro was like 'hey club, we have this stuff already designed, want to use it?'
And thank you for sharing, it's very cool! |

Actually, Hasbro shared both of those concepts in 2010-ish as part of a big reveal of how much stuff was scrapped following the failures of RoC. Club opted to use them because Hasbro had no intentions of doing anything with the concepts.
But these are bigger and better images! |

We could see those Steel Brigade figures in a future con set.

here is the very first rendering that I did for the vehicle boxes, I used the PIT as the first box since it was the biggest. Notice that at the time I did a loose illustration for the concept since the actual toy was still in development. Here also is the nearly finished PIT illustration for comparison, notice no exhaust on the missels. Each vehicle took approx a month to illustrate.

Nifty.
I know the film saw a vastly abbreviated production cycle, did that reflect on the production time the Joe team had to produce toys? Did prior/future vehicle packaging art also take about a month?

^ Great artwork! Not so great vehicle :(
Good thing the ROC Hawk Pit figure didn't come in a bubble like that. He would have been scaveneged by repackers. I'm curious if the discussion of the scourge known as repackers ever came up in design meetings?
