Finding a POC Low Light on a peg at a WalMart in El Paso, TX.
Fort Bliss is right there, and G.I. Joe is a really good seller so I was always hunting competitively. I had the gut feeling I'd never see another one on pegs again so it was an instant buy. Good thing, cause it played out that way exactly. |

One time I walked into a Walgreens in East Texas last year and found 4 Renegades Storm Shadows on the pegs.

I had a couple; the first was a more major score then I knew at the time. A friend and I both went to a TRU and found V2 Snake Eyes, one for each. I never saw that figure on the shelf again after that so every time I looked at him I felt more and more lucky.
The other instances revolved around what I think was a Costco. The one we used to go to was like a smallish store front with a massive warehouse in the back that only workers could get at. If you didn't see it on the store floor you would go through the catalog, write the sku # on a piece of paper and one of the workers would get it for you. They had one of those freight rollers that your request would come sliding out on. It's hard to put into words how bizarrely cool it was to effectively point at a picture in a catalog, wait a few minutes and have it arrive right in front of you. It was almost like being in a toy factory and having it made just for you. I got my Night Raven and Tomahawk that way, both vehicles I never saw on the shelf anywhere so I consider them a good find.

There was a local comic book shop closing and he threw up everything have off. I went there with less than 50 and left with a mostly complete GI joe HQ the first and a Terrordrome whose missing only the gun chairs. I was and have been quite happy.

The day my mom bought me my Night Raven. The store she worked at had just gotten them in, and since I liked the SR-71, I wanted the Night Raven like nobodies business.
Finding the mail order Sgt Slaughter at a flea market for $1. Getting a Silver Head SDCC Pimp Daddy Destro and 25th Mail order Doc for $30. Paying $8 for a 25th V2 Snake-Eyes on Ebay and finding out the Timber was black when he arrived. And now an almost "Oh heck yeah"...this past weekend I missed a near complete Killer WHALE on Craiglist for $25. I missed it because I was lazy and didn't feel like driving 2 hours to get it :(
