Now this happened before in regards to price hikes. It started at one store, then another and then all the rest. It was based as we now know on Hasbro's raised wholesale costs, and the rise of their M.S.R.P. for stores. It was also set at a time where oil was skyrocketing on the market. That is so far from the case today. The recent comic packs have contained so little new construction, they just don't warrant a price hike. Development investments have been covered, production costs have lowered. So yes. Boycott that $13 price tag. Not that it will be hard. The same CP's have been clogging pegs for months now and nobody has been interested at $9.99.

Guys, we have to just grin and bear it. Hasbro is already easing away from the 25th line toward the movie line. Stop buying the CPs and it will be reason for them to stop altogether. You just have to accept the fact that prices go up. If the figure is worth having pay for it, if not don't. But boycotting high prices is just pissing in the wind and you know what that gets you.....

Some people aren't happy unless they have something to complain about.

I don't think the CP price is unfair untill it becomes more than 2 single figs ($15). Not saying I would pay that. We've been lucky to have them at $10. That was a really good deal.

I am not boycotting a toy line. It is a luxury item, not essential to my life. They will charge what they want or need inorder to cover costs and make a profit (bottom line reason for being a For-profit company) and in these times, I don't see a small group of individuals affecting a multinational distribution / supply chain product line enough to warrant a price change.
I think the market conditions have an impact on the price, but also the retailers are trying to figure out what the market will bare for the price of these goods. Last fall we saw single packs shoot up quite a bit, then dropped down some. Well a smart company is going to do the same with all items in a line that is in demand. A two pack of figures that are priced slighty lower than two single figures is good business sense. Consumers like you and me don't like it, but it increases the net profit Of the retailer, which again, is the whole reason they exist. Walmart's mission statement is to help people save money so they can live better. To that (and any for-profit MS) add "and to make a shitload of money". I don't fault retailers for trying to make as much money as they can, that is there goal. It isn't to "save Josh money by selling goods at cost and hope we break even". That was a long bout of verbal / thumb typing crap I just spouted just to say "meh, it is just a toyline." EDIT - I fugging hate the auto correct on the iPhone. It is useful half the time and the other two thirds just screws it up. Last edited by WVMojo; 02-19-2009 at 01:57 PM.. |

Just don't buy them. Both TRU and Targets in my area raised prices for singles a while ago from 6.xx to a 7.99 (taxes not included). After 3 weeks they realized nobody was buying them anymore and they dropped the prices back to 6.99.
