Loved the movie and Cobra La. Isn't Cobra la a play-on words taken from the mythical Shangri la. A mysterious moutain top civilization. Sound right to me.

I wasn't a GI Joe fan as a kid so Cobra-la didn't ruin my childhood or anything, so I'm not prejudiced to it one way or another.
I also never saw any eps with it yet. But it seems that it's just a hidden civilization of ancient snake people. Which puts it firmly in pulp territory. Which puts it firmly in the territory of Lovecraft and REH (author of Conan and King Kull and so on). Which means: It's awesome. ANd like others, I mash my stuff together. My Joeverse is hardly "pure". My Joeverse has superheroes and sentai and kaiju and everything in it. Cobra-La as part of it has no impact on the Cobra army. Since I do whatever I want w/my Joeverse, I'll just have them as a Cobra ally that is often not so allied to the army. Different agendas mean they only work together so much. And snake Cobra Commander? Obviously then he's just a replacement for the real one. Planted in the army by Cobra-la to try to gain more military power. Just like how Fred 7 was a fake CC, the snake one is also fake CC. |

When it came out I believe their were more fans who just watched and took it as is. They watched it and when it was on again that next season you watched it again just because it was gijoe. As fans got older they clinged more to the serious side of gijoe like in the comic books.

EXACTALY.... the whole story just does not fit into the GI JOE universe. Special Forces fighting a terriorist orginazation, not Snake people. If we want that we always have Masters of the Universe. Dont get me wrong I like MOTU but not in my GI JOE.
