Build-a-figures, another way Hasbro gets you to buy cheap repaints.
Another way to look at it is to consider the Doc Mail-away. It's the same principle but without the mail-in middle man. And how many of you think you spent $65 just for him? And forget all about the recolored comic figures you bought as well. Now imagine if Doc was say, Alley-viper, or your SNAKE armor. |

I like the idea of a build a figure. But I don't like the idea of more CCs, Snake Eyes, etc. Diver duke is at least a generic diver with a new helmet. If they are going to constantly repack the main characters at least do something creative with them.
Samurai Storm Shadow: cool Pilot Destro: cool Overdone CC: cool. IG repacked destro: not cool Ninja Cobra Commander: Cool. Hipster Zartan: Cool. Hasbro, just give a new mold or web gear or something. |

I would like it for something like build a base, put a piece with vehicles. The BAF concept would be hard to do, especially if you army build.

Build a droid works for Star Wars because the molds are available already. Stuff like SNAKE would require new tooling.
Also the droid parts can be easily put together. Joes are a bit more complex as far as the construction goes. I wouldn't mind build a trooper if it were to happen. Green shirts or Cobra troopers. Something like that. But I don't see it happening. |

only if its the Cobra-La version
i mean star wars gets build-a droid and weapons lockers and joes gets nothing in that way, Gi joe is hasbro mainstay but gets treated like the red haired bastard step child

I think for single packs it would be a bad idea, because it'd ruin the MOC look of a figure if it came with a random leg, or piece of a vehicle. As for vehicle packs or multi-packs like the DVD sets, I think it was a great gimmick. It was actually what caused me to purchase all 5. For future references I think vehicle packs would be a considerable idea if they came with a piece of a little base, much like the size of that Check Point base type thing they had it in the 80's.
But hey that's just my opinion!

I agree. However!!! If they put a golobulus like the one in your signature pic, I'd buy all the figures I didn't want. That thing is schweeet.

I like the RAH style card backs and would like the 25th anniversary figures to remain true to those as much as possible with the new improvements. I don't think I'd want a carded collection of 25th style figures if they had B-A-F associated with it.
At this point it seems like my interest in G.I. Joe are winding down. With Resolute figures coming out now I'm not even interested in the entire case of figures so another reason why I would not be interested in B-A-F with G.I. Joe. I was cool with the Star Wars Build-A-Droid because I'm not a Star Wars complete-ist anymore and am ok with having a few random droid parts. There's no way I'm buying the same Darth Vader figure for the 13th time just to complete some random droid. |
