OK So I just got the Battle Kata Roadblock yesterday from Dorkside Toys. I purchased him mainly for use as parts for customs but I gotta say I am very surprised by how awesome this figure is.
First of all his sculpting and scale is excellent as well as the paint job. Plus he has all the articulation which I didn't expect. I thought his wrists were just the regular ones until I got him. He's got the extra articulated wrists and ankles. The only thing that is a little off are those huge holsters on the sides of his legs but they have their uses depending on the character. Even with his tactical vest off the figure looks great. The only thing I think he could have used was a helmet or hat of some kind. Otherwise even the accessories are pretty awesome. As a customizer I can see this figure having many many uses. Anyway, I know there is a lot of angst at Hasbro right now, myself included but I got to give props when they are do and this figure rocks. I plan on getting quite a few if I can. Sorry no Pics but, they are everywhere if you want to see them.

I agree. I was disapointed that "another RB" was coming out with this wave, but I was pleasently surprised by the overall look, vest, and weapons. Plus it's fully articulated too!!!!! I picked him up to be another Joe, as there is only one RB (25th version) for me.

I like it. I like the kata weapons system, but like you, I don't like the large holsters. But I may get another just to tweak a little.

finally saw him in the wild, wasn't expecting much as most people who report sightings always seem to find Roadblock there and no one else... but you are absolutely right- he is pretty awesome! The colors look cool, and i like the weapons. I like this one as much as the 3-pack version.

I just bought this version of Roadblock "Rock"block from Toys R Us. In my opinion this the best version from the Retaliation line. Lots of weapons, and most of them can placed on his body. The Arashikage clan tatoo on his right arm is pretty bad ass too. I just would have liked a stand and file card but The Rock's likeness is very well done.

This is probably my favorite figure from wave 2. I like Ninja Duel SE, but I have fifty SE figures so this guy wins. I actually like the Battle Kata deal, though I have mine posed with the big gun.

Overall, I'd say it's a good figure. My only complaint is that his hands are too big to hold most weapons, but I found an M249 SAW from another ME fig that he can hold very nicely.

It is a great figure and I think the Battle Kata is cool replicated in this small scale, though the holsters and pistol parts/grips are too big.
Thing is, this figure will be overshadowed once the Ultimate Roadblock is released. It takes everything good from this figure and ditches the Battle Kata gimmick. Also some new parts and it looks like the web gear is molded on: Roadblock (Ultimate) - Retaliation G.I. Joe Figures G.I. Joe Retaliation |

Love the figure...hate the big goofy holsters.
As for the Battle Kata weapons....its really odd....I like the weapons but can't really wrap my head around a weapon that doesn't have a handle. I mean I get that its interchangable and all, but the idea of Roadblock or anyone being in the field and quickly thinking..."Did I leave the handle on my knife? Or the gun? Maybe it was the baton...." Or what if he's in a prolonged fight, and he has a handle attached to a gun and it gets knocked out of his hand...okay he has a second one, but lets say he goes for the baton and that too gets kicked out of his hands in the mix up. Oh well he still has three kives and another gun he....CAN'T USE. Cool looking figure, and its and interesting gimmick but when I think about it, it just gets a little silly. |
