After what seems like hundreds of releases, Hasbro has absolutely NAILED it.
This figure seriously looks FLAWLESS. OK, if you're collection is based on "realism" like a lot of the POC stuff acheived, then yeah, this isn't the CC for you.... But for a damn near PERFECT representation of the comic book/Sunbow CC?? How could it possibly be better than this figure? The 25th figure was cool when it was released, but I had to concede that it was a gangly-limbed mess. Tiny head....loooooong thin stick legs....it just didn't look good on the shelf with so many other superior toys. And now this masterpiece. Thank the toy gods that this didn't end up in limbo forever as an unused Zombie concept! Just bask in the glory....the body is proportionate now. The masked head is just perfect, and according the Justin on whatsonjoemind....it's gonna be VAC METAL. As if that wasn't enough, there is an alternate hooded head!! There is no longer a peg on the back for the gun, but no matter, cause it's actually more on model without it. There IS however a functional sheath for the knife. AWESOME. I couldn't possible love this figure more!! It's what I pictured in my head all along as the perfect CC figure, and now it's coming true. Truly lives up to the ULTIMATE moniker. So along with Storm Shadow and the 3-pack Firefly, a lot of my favorites have really got the be-all end-all versions out there. The upcoming Snake Eyes is close, but not perfect. I have issues with the skinny diver body they're using. But I think a combination of the HoH SE and the upcoming one might yield a perfect figure. So where's our Ultimate Classic Zartan? Funny how Hasbro has managed to make me buy what is essentially the same figure over and over, yet I'm HAPPY to do it everytime. To an outsider we must look NUTS...surely they can't seem the small differences between the toys. But we're the obsessive fans...we can see it, and we appreciate the changes. I for one think this new Cobra Commander is simply perfection in figure form....can not wait to own it!!! Last edited by Otomo; 02-12-2013 at 12:20 PM.. |

Yeah, this is probably my most anticipated figure of this year.
I loved this thing when I saw it in the Concept Vault... This is just perfect, so glad they are releasing this! There isn't anything I would have done different. I even like the little gimmicky helicopter pack. It seems like something you'd see ARAH. Last edited by ResoluteBAT; 02-11-2013 at 08:05 AM.. |

Agreed! As a huge CC fan, I look forward to buying a few of these. I think the only downer is that the packaging can't possibly live up to the 25th era. But yeah, beautiful! And I for one am NOT sad to see the back-holster go. Not true to the comic or toon anyway, and it just seems so ridiculously impractical...

Beautiful sculpt. Hopefully it's not too tall or something.
Hasbro needs to make with an updated classic Destro, non-Rock Roadblock, and release Flint and LJ from the vault.

I'm not going crazy over this figure but I will still pick him up. I think the only thing that would make this perfect is a chrome face plate. Could care less about the helicopter pack. There have been so many releases hopefully this will be the last for a while.

I'm not really a CC fan - I've got just a couple, neither if which are the ARAH styling - but this is a sharp figure. Very nice looking. I'll highly consider getting one.
On a slightly different note --- does anyone know what the MSRP of these "ultimate" figures is supposed to be? I just wondered if Hasbro would try to charge more with the ultimate name plus some extra plastic in there.

This is THE CC to have. Time to ditch the 2764597456645 Modern ones I have and just go with this one.
Until they make a better one (Knowing my luck...)

You really like to start ultimate threads huh (JK). While I disagree that the sleeveless storm shadow shown is the ultimate version, I do agree on this cobra commander.

When I finally get this CC I might just have a big fire out front and send the others to Valhalla. Other than having the few old ARAH figures there will be no need, for me atleast, to have any other Cobra Commander (except 87 and 91 and 92 if they ever make those two). I am actually quite glad it won't have the thing on back for the gun. Now CC can actually use backpacks and fangs and claws and anything!
I'm feeling so spoiled, Between that 3 pack Firefly, this CC, and the matching Storm Shadow. It's a good time to collect Joes. |
