I would think it had more to do with trademarks, but who knows? Eaglehawk isn't a terrible name... a bit funny, if you think about it - unless it's an actual thing?

Same for me. I have pretty much stopped buying the new stuff, but this Chopper and the "Ultimates" figure lines might just pull me back in. Definitely I am picking up at least three Tomahawks. It was something that had been absent in my collection and I fully intend to make up for it.

Hell yea, the only vehicles i have bought since the ME era started are the Night Raven, Arctic Hiss, the revamped, black Hiss and and the AWE Striker, and I only bought them because they were on clearance or at Ross. The TOMAHAWK, (Can't get used to "Eaglehawk") will be the first vehicle that i will be buying at full price as soon as it comes out. It was, by far, my favorite vehicle as a kid. I'm gonna have 2 get a Wild Bill now, to sit along Lift Ticket in the cockpit.

I thought it might have been a PC/senstivity thing too, but it really shouldn't... Army helicopters are traditionally named after Native tribes and what not (Comanche, Apache, Blackhawk, etc.), and no one really seems to have a problem with it. It would seem to be something of an honour, from what I can tell. Not at all like the Cleveland Indians logo, for example.
I would think it had more to do with trademarks, but who knows? Eaglehawk isn't a terrible name... a bit funny, if you think about it - unless it's an actual thing? Quite frankly just like many of you, this came as a surprise for me. I would have thought that we would have gotten a Dragonfly instead of the Tomahawk, because it was smaller, lower price point and just as iconic as the Tomahawk. Of which one is more iconic is debatable. This release is a very, very pleasant surprise. It seems that HASBRO at least once a year will give the fans what they want. Who knows what the next one will be and I am eagerly looking forward to that. I seriously think that this price point is reasonable considering what it is. About 3 months ago, I was at my favorite collectible shop and I saw they had a complete Tomahawk on display. There was a small price tag and I though it said "69.99". A little pricey, but like I mentioned in another post, the Tomahawk was something I never had but always have wanted one. So next paycheck I saved up some money and prayed that the Tomahawk was still there. When I brought it to the counter, the thing was $169.99!!! Needless to say I had to pass on it. To this day that Tomahawk is still there with no takers. So using that price as a reference, I could buy 4 new Eaglehawks and have enough money left to eat lunch at Mcdonalds.

Oh well, it's not as if this kind of thing doesn't happen with real life military vehicles. I just see this as a newer variant of the old Tomahawk. Eaglehawk kind of works, though, in the same vein as the Strike Eagle or Super Hornet. Quote:

I'd put a premium on a truly mint version, though (although I already have one, so I'm not in the market). $70 is completely reasonable, and still is, despite this news. Vintage will always be vintage, after all.

First thing this morning I had to rush to the computer, flip it on and make sure yesterday wasn't some wild dream. woohoo brand spanking new Tomahawk!!!!!! (eaglehawk)
The name thing kinda reminds me of the name changes with the old Huey and Cobra helicopters. They're making brand new ones now and they're called the Venom and Viper and super crazy modernized and updated. But they still have thier old classic looks to them. |
