Why do we get Cobra Commander constantly? Why does hasbro feel the need to constantly release him?
I mean if they want to save money by repackaging the same figure can't they at least repackage some different figures? Why does it always have to be Cobra Commander, especially the helmet one? Did someone goof at the assembly line and hold down the button too long making 5 billion extras of him? I mean I have a shoe box full of helmet Cobra Commanders and I don't know what to do with them. Can I donate them to kids in africa? Sorry just venting. I tried to complain to my wife about it but I don't think she cared too much. |

Get a pellet rifle and use them as target practice. That way when Cobra really invades, You will be a crackshot and able to defend the country.

I imagine that the throne room would be filled with dopple-gangers, so when the base is under attack, CC can escape while some poor clone bites it. That sneak.

You could ask the same question as to why there are so many Bumblebees, Optimus Primes and Starscream figures in Transformers.
Or Darth Vader, Obiwan Kenobi, Yoda, Clones, or Skywalkers in the Star Wars toyline. Cobra Commander is a "core character", he is a safe figure in that he is largely going to sell at some point, and his inclusion can sway consumers to getting products they might otherwise not have gotten. Hasbro wants to make sure casual buyers (ie, the ones who won't buy everything or keep track of every new wave release) have chances at the core popular characters, which in Joe's case, is Duke, Cobra Commander, Destro, Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes. The helmeted interpretation of the character is simply the most popular of his looks.

Most toy lines have what the companies consider to be core characters. For the Joes, it's Duke, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, and Cobra Commander (and maybe Destro to a lesser extent). Those are the guys Hasbro tries to have available to the consumer pretty much at all times. Hence, endless repaints. Just a reality of the modern toy manufacturing trends.

Well in the Original Run CC was on of the most difficult figures to find in the 80's especially the helmet version... I guess Hasbro just didn't want to repeat history.. LOL
WHY oh WHY couldn't they have done this with the Army builders more though... or honestly.. maybe Gung Ho.. He is the perfect fig to use in customs.
