Hasbro has defended their '77 Star Wars Style Vehicle Drivers as needed to keep costs down. While I can see that I can think of 2 better ways to keep costs down.
1) Draw on the parts bin from 25th, ME, ROC, POC and 30th that are already paid for and do not need dev costs and Franken-Joe Together Drivers. 2) Really keep costs down and do not include drivers with the vehicles. (Pass along the savings to the cust, like that will happen) Seriously the new Drivers are a Joke and most of the time wind up in the same garbage can as the spring loaded launchers so if you are not going with option one save the planet a bit and don't waste the plastic on the rejects from a McDonalds Happy Meal.

The thing you have to keep in mind is that even though the 5 POA drivers needed new molds, they also needed far less labor to assemble them. Seeing how much more expensive labor has become in China, I'm sure that was the main reason they have moved to the lower POA drivers.
Anyway though, I'm pretty sure Hasbro said at the last JoeCon that they aren't going to do any more 5 POA drivers. |
