Painted is never as durable, which is the reason this idea was born. These are for people who don't want to worry about a scratch every time they pick up their "Shadowfish." If anyone can think of a better name for this, let's hear some suggestions

It may not be better but how about the Hissdevil since it is related to the site. I'll also get in line for any extras and will not flake if there is one to be had. I would like to see the finished product but if anyone doesn't come through the MAJOR will.

What material will these be made from?
Will there be any shrinkage between the final casts and the original parts? If there is shrinkage - how much and will the parts still assemble correctly? Will the material cast assemble like the original parts with the tabs? If so, how durable will the final product be in terms of flexing and impact damage. I'm curious if the differences between Injection Molded plastic and cast items will be taken into account. If you are planning to use tinted urethane then you would need to address UV protection/resistance as well if you don't want them painted. This is NOT an attempt to sabotage your project, but if people are paying $34 for two castings of a hull AND need to buy a donor vehicle for other parts it would help to know just how durable their investment will be. If the whole agrument is that "paint is fragile", one can counter that a cast urethane part would probably be even MORE fragile. -Gary |

I have answered this question previously in the thread, so I did not feel like answering it again. Reading the thread is a lost art on hisstank. This has a top and bottom half, plus a small black piece that goes on the rear of the boat. You act as if I am being deceptive in an attempt to profit from this, which I can assure you I am not. Just having the molds made for this project cost $150. I say that fully aware that some jackass will try to do a cost breakdown to see if I even made one penny, and he/she will then try to burn me at the stake if I did.
As with every other thread on hisstank, the o.p. finds himself bickering/arguing/defending himself in some way or another. I don't know why I even bother. BTW, to those who are waiting, these are being produced by a very reputable repro-part provider. No one has reported any issues with materials or quality of his work.
