Is anyone still interested in this figure or has the choice of head sculpt turned you off?
The more I play around with him the more I'm coming to accept the retaliation head. It's not ideal, but it looks pretty good with the gray visor. |

I lost all interest. Not having the 85' head really crushed my hopes and dreams. Hasbro blew this one.

I like the wave 2 retaliation head it's just out of scale with the new 1985 body. If we'd never seen the original design head at toy fair, sdcc and joecon we wouldn't ever know what we were missing. Oh well, par for the course with Hasbro. Spend all of the new sculpt money on super awesome figures like Wave 1 Duke, SE, SS, Roadblock, Cobra Trooper, wave 2 Flint etc that look nothing like their movie counterparts and then reuse bad parts to try and make new figures.
They've just got their heads up their asses there. They should have reversed the order. Everything we see in wave 3.5 should have come in wave 1 and then they could repaint and part swap till their heart's content. When you make good figures, you can use the parts many times over and no one will care. It's crazy the number of times the POC wv3 SE and Cobra Shock Trooper parts have been used with great success. All they have to do is inject a few new parts here and there and they'll keep the buying public happy.

They have the tooling and yet they throw a retaliation head on there... The box even shows the '85 head! |

Hey guys, one thing I just noticed about this figure is that he is tall... and I mean TALL. He's damn near a quarter inch taller than POC SE.
He's actually taller than most of my figures... my Convention Iron Grenadier heavy trooper is taller than him but only slightly. (I can post some pics upon request) |

I had high hopes wave 3.5 would be the new ultimate version, but that head change and those skinny legs are a game changer. I'm gonna pass and stay happy with version 52. |

Maybe this was already mentioned, but I didn't see it: Is Timber articulated? I'm one who likes our beloved animal sidekicks getting an articulated update, which is why I currently display the PoC version with my v2-style SE.
Also, does the 25th 5-pack head fit/match the Wave 3 version? With the movie head, while nice on its own, being included, I feel better about skipping this. I really dislike the new ankles on these figures, so I''' only buy a figure that has them if it's of someone I don't have. The new sculpt on CC and Storm Shadow is nice, but I really welcome that excuse not to buy repeats, regardless of how nice they are. Last edited by ero; 08-01-2013 at 12:52 PM.. |

They have never made a decent Timber.
I raise Great Grey Wolves, I have 7. And the scale is just drasticly way to small on all the toys I have seen of Timber, who is supposed to be a great grey. I also do not like how they always depict him as snarling and rabid or something, you almost never see one like that unless they are injurred or starving. |

I think I understand Hasbro's motivation behind these "Ultimate" figures. There's a time in the Marvel comics when Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes were teaming up to track down the real killer of the Hard Master. During this time, Snake Eyes had his V2 look and Storm Shadow was still using his V1 Cobra uniform.
Since Storm Shadow had already turned against Cobra and pretty much did the same in Retaliation, I think Hasbro used that as inspiration for the new Ultimate Storm Shadow and Ultimate Snake Eyes, as Snake Eyes was in the V2 look at that time. Despite Ultimate versions of Firefly, Duke, Flint and Roadblock being movie-based I think we will get comic/classic based Ultimate versions of those characters next year. Same for movie accurate Storm Shadow and Cobra Commander. Just a hunch. I think the new Snake Eyes looks decent, it's a shame the new head sculpt was not used and that there is no backpack included to store the sword. It's just a few parts shy of being a truly Ultimate rendition of the V2 Snake Eyes. Surprisingly enough, even the HOH V2 Snake Eyes lacked a backpack. Quote:
